Own over 5 iPods, 3 iPad, 1 iPhone 4, 2 3GS, 1 4S, MBP, and an iMac, all which have been perfect, and held their own. But even Apple makes mistakes. I just find this one very careless. How could their quality control miss this?

I think the fact that you apparently have spent upwards of $4000, presumably over more than 5 years, and this is the first time you've experienced a problem speaks more than enough about Apple's QC.

Apple is not perfect. I have replaced my phone (an iPhone 5.) 3 times now due to my anal retentiveness, and every phone (including the one I received on the Monday after launch) have been completely flawless.

Wait, why did you return your phone 3 times if every single one, including the one you got after launch day, was completely flawless?

Is actually what I got it replaced for.

I mean not to contradict myself, earlier stating that it wasn't worth it.

I ordered 2 iPhones on launch day.

The first was defective on day 1 (front camera didn't work) and got replaced next-day by an Apple Store.

The second one developed a problem with spotty LTE reception just last week. It was also replaced, no questions asked, by the Apple Store.

So I'm a happy customer because at the end, all products can have problems, but Apple is probably the only company that replaces your defective device on the spot.

Yeah, that's true. Apple has its share of problems, but customer service is not one of them.

Every time I get a new Apple product, I think to myself "I must be the luckiest guy in the world" because I never seem to have any of the problems that plague these poor souls on the Interwebs.

You have a defective iphone. Get it replaced. QC is crap across all major OEMs. I don't believe Apple deviates from the mean in terms of bad QC.

There's all your questions answered. No need for further discussion.

Simply return it and get a full refund. Apple customer service is awesome ! you wont have issues. Seems like the iPhone wasn't meant to be for you. Wait for that piece of plastic coming out in April, "Galaxy S4" what they're calling it I hear :D

It's been returned for a full refund. Apple CS is awesome. The iPhone isn't for me when I've been having a blast with the 4S for a year?

Looks like another well, thought-out post from someone intelligent.

Wow, cant get over the shocking abuse given to the guy after he posted a genuine question, isn't that what forum discussion chats are for? Some of you need to get off your high horse.

Of course, he bought a $700 phone and broke it purposely so he could make a video and a thread out of it, because Apple have never ever shipped a faulty phone!

This is such a lame aśs story. Just get over it. My iphone 5 ended up having a moving battery and the apple store just replaced it.

I seriouslly think you should just sell the iPhone 5 and get a droid your clearly not happy with this apple iphone. I don't think you should buy any more apple products as they are clearly not for you.

FTFY

This is such a lame aśs response. Just get over yourself.

I seriouslly think you should quit responding to threads you don't have anything to contribe contructively and move on. I don't think you should try responding to such posts as they are clearly not for you

He got a damaged phone, called CS, got it replaced. End of story!

Your post makes no sense at all whatsoever. I can see your an Internet warrior son of asgard I shall let you be.

Some people here are absolutely hilarious. If an Apple product is faulty it's the consumers fault! Lol

People that think Apple can do no wrong are the absolute worst consumers Apple can have. No improvements will ever be made if everything is perfect meanwhile the products will just get junkier and junkier.

For the price of an unlocked iPhone vs the actual material you get that thing better be absolutely flawless. Especially considering there is a Foxconn factory worker using more expensive hardware in assembling a phone that's significantly less expensive right next to the iPhone factory worker. :)

It's the camera lens. My iPhone 4S lens also rattles. It's normal.

Intelligent?

I am sure I will take a lot of heat for this, but I returned it and got myself a white Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Best device ever!!! Gonna give my 4S to my GF. :D

You aren't alone. I had this same problem with my launch day iPhone 5.

Apple replaced no questions asked, and here I am many months later still enjoying my White 32GB. :)

I have been on many many forums and I have to say this one has some of the nastiest, rude people u gave ever encountered. You have people coming here with legitimate issues and questions. What do they get? 50% of a$$h@le sarcastic answers. Really, if your not going to contribute with a helpful reply , why bother taking the time to type? I just don't get it, I've seen so many on here and finally I had to take the time to chime in......
It gets annoying seeing a total newb register on the site just to complain like he is the first person to figure out this defect. He then created a video on YouTube. Go to apple store and swap it out. Why sign up to a forum and create a video about it? Just get it replaced!

He means stop posting if all you have to say is something negative. This obviously makes you feel better or your probably just a sour bitter person in general.

I was just thinking about something. There is a lot of room for the battery to move around in there. Why not a bigger battery?

Hi everyone!!! I am new to this site. Love Apple products and own many. Own an iPhone 4S myself and on Sunday I ordered an unlocked iPhone 5 for my girlfriend directly from Apple.com. Black 32GB. I was so excited all day to get the package. Anyway, package came and I took it out of the box and noticed a very loud thumping noise. Something is moving around in the phone. I am assuming its the battery? I do not live anywhere near an Apple store so I called them up. Got a very nice gal on the phone who was very apologetic. She said they would just refund me. Ok problem solved. However, afterwards I did some digging. I found out the iPhone 5 is the most problematic iPhone? I am very shocked to discover this. I just did a Google search on iphone 5 quality control. According to what I found, many people were receiving defective iPhones in Sep 2012 when it was first introduced. So you would think they would have QC under control by March 2013? Doesn't each iPhone have to go through quality control checks?

Anyway, I made a short video demonstrating the problem. As you can clearly see, I just took it out of the box and didn't remove the plastic screen covers on the front or back. This is just so upsetting. I am reluctant to purchase another iPhone after this. It seems like the iPhone 5 might be too hard to manufacture?

Don't listen to the fan boys who say nothing can ever be wrong with their beloved Apple products. I had the exact same issue. The battery is held in place with double sided tap. It comes loose in some cases-yours and mine. I took mine to the apple store, the popped the screen, replaced the tape and mine has been fine for 5 months. The 5 is surely not built as well as the 4S-my last phone also.
