Sorry everyone. I hit the reply button and somehow quoted the entire article.
Anyways, hope I get to earn additional BAT crypto reward.

I will stick to DuckDuckGo on Safari. However, the problem with DuckDuckGo is that it’s not as intuitive to use as google and bing. Hope they come up with a better service even if it comes with a subscription model.

Aye, though this browser has always set off wee alarm bells. It seems more like they are stripping out websites ads, replacing them with their own or a subscription, and then claiming to be privacy focused.
The ads are stored locally and 100% opt in. Any sane person uses ublock or another ad blocker for security alone anyway if I want to see ads and support creators that accept BAT why not?

I am going to stick with DDG. After Brave got caught redirecting for cash, I decided they can't be trusted.

Thanks to those of you who did the research to point out how bad this new option is... can the article be updated?

Firefox has a checkered past too. https://www.cnet.com/news/mozilla-backpedals-after-mr-robot-firefox-misstep/
That's even more dangerous creating a unique fingerprint for some users could get dissidents etc. killed. Brave also phones home the least of any mainstream browser. https://brave.com/popular-browsers-first-run/

How is it bad?
Look up their track record. Their entire business model with the s***coin is fishy to begin with, but what really does it is that time they were changing URLs in people's web content to include their affiliate links. Which isn't that bad of an impact but definitely throws all user trust out the window. That's browser hijack material.

Also, in general, software you hear advertised over FM radio (which I have) probably isn't trustworthy. Privacy is much easier to advertise than it is to uphold.

They immediately removed that and updated their Terms of service saying they wouldn't do it again over a year ago. Other mainstream browsers have and still are doing way worse as I said above.

It's too late. They had it for a long time and only removed it after they got caught, and nothing is guaranteeing they won't pull similar stunts again. Firefox has done some weird things in the past, but they also have a much longer history. The thing you cited isn't as bad either. They weren't messing with website content.

Messing with a browsers fingerprint is way worse that can get people killed or arrested in some areas of the world.
