You guys have no idea how important it is for the wives of successful Russian businessmen to show off their wealth. This is one of the ways
Can’t they just flaunt their husband’s stolen wealth by just showing off their plastic surgeries?

The regular iPhone is out of the price range for most iPhone buyers...
No that’s not true at all.

iPhone X sold extremely well despite the price.

Ahead of the launch of the iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max, luxury iPhone companies Brikk and Caviar have announced custom versions of the two new iPhones made from materials like carbon, ceramic, alligator, and other materials.

Russian site Caviar, for example, is offering ornate iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs designs with carbon bodies, snake skin, alligator skin, gold accents, and diamond accents.

One of the most expensive Caviar iPhones, a version that features gold plating, mother of pearl, and 20 diamonds, is priced starting at $5,420.

Brikk, meanwhile, is offering iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max models in carbon, ceramic, and gold. Pricing on the carbon models, which feature "an extremely rare form of carbon" that's also used by Lamborghini, are priced starting at $9,995. For that price, you also get solid gold logos and 24k yellow gold buttons.

Brikk's ceramic iPhones start at $12,995 and come in either black or white, also with a 24k gold main body and buttons. Brikk says its ceramic iPhones offer exceptional heat resistance and light weight.

For those with even more cash to spend, Brikk also plans to offer solid gold versions of the iPhone Xs and Xs Plus, which will cost upwards of $50,000. These devices are just announcements at this point, as Brikk and Caviar will need to wait for the official iPhone Xs and Xs Max launch to purchase iPhones for customization purposes.

Both Caviar and Brikk are known for selling ornately-designed luxury iPhone models for exorbitant prices, which are fun to look at but are out of the price range of most iPhone buyers.

Nevertheless, should someone be interested in one of these iPhones, Caviar is taking pre-orders now and Brikk is expected to begin accepting pre-orders soon.

Why... Just why? Seriously, I want someone who would actually buy one of these things to explain to me why one would waste this kind of money on something so unnecessary, ugly and stupid.

The people in the real world who did see one of these in person out in the wild would only mistaken it for being a case. LMAO! These things are very tacky and cheesy. I'm sure whoever buys these things also lacks taste. Oh well to each their own.

I'm sure whoever buys these things also lacks taste.

Sure. They lack taste. And the person who buys (and can easily afford) these things also has a net income/wealth more than you or me and ALL of the MacRumors thread posters (on this thread) combined. She's probably married to a Russian or Chinese multi-billionaire, as already suggested by a poster above.

We are all just ants to her. Jealous ants. While she can afford to throw away $3000 on an extravagant iPhone case, while she travels on her husband's $100-million yacht in Greece. Her lapdog poodle probably eats better food than we do.

a rare form of carbon used by Lamborghini (and even Shimano) - Polycarbon. Yeah very rare indeed.

Actually it’s forged carbon, as the industry calls it. Instead of woven carbon fiber, which really only works in sheets and tubes and shapes that can be created by wrapping carbon fiber mesh around molds, the fibers are mixed into a resin and compressed into billets under a huge amount of force. These billets or blocks of carbon fiber can then be machined as if they were blocks of metal. The carbon or carbon fibers are not rare, just the process which is still rather expensive. And like many newer manufacturing processes or techniques, it’s becoming more common all the time. Starting to see a lot more car parts, airplane parts, bike parts, camera parts, golf clubs and more made out of this stuff. ...Does that justify a $10K iPhone mod? Heck, no.. but make a new iPhone shell out of this and pair it with a bezel frame and buttons plated in 24K gold and there will be a handful of wealthy idiots willing to buy it.

Not trying to stereotype by race or nationality here, but there currently is a huge market for this type of super luxury blingy crap in the UAE, South Korea and some parts of China and Russia. And a few American super-rich status-symbol craving types to boot.

"Brikk's ceramic iPhones start at $12,995 and come in either black or white, also with a 24k gold main body and buttons. Brikk says its ceramic iPhones offer exceptional heat resistance and light weight."

Does this mean that the heat from the phone has difficulty dissipating out of the case? That seems disadvantageous.

No, it's designed to keep all the heat IN, in case of a battery melt-down; can't have these people receiving burns on their perfectly manicured hands, or damage to their $50,**** (Add as many noughts as you feel appropriate!) purse, now can we? :p

Caviar: we specialize in cultural appropriation

Caviar, or in German Kaviar - which has more than one meaning in German ;)

It also looks like it will “protect” your phone from receiving those pesky cellular phone and Bluetooth signals as well and who wants wireless charging anyways.

I guess they have plenty of them in stock if they can already announce this.
I'll take pre-orders right now for the iPhone Xs with a hand-scribbled note by my three year old grand nephew on the back, for just £9,999.

The Max name is terrible, very un-apple.

Exactly. Everyone mocking microsoft for their ludicrous Vista naming schemes, poking fun at Samsung for their ridiculous 90's phone titles...

The chickens have come home to roost.

iPhone Excess and Excess Pepsi Max and the iPhone Extended Release Capsule

The naming scheme is odd anyway :

Does XS mean the top as in above and beyond "made to excess" or does it mean 'S' as in the iphone 4s, a more subtle update?

XR sounds like a type of 80's Ford Escort. Just add the i for injection afterwards. :D
