I got the same problem with my iphone 3g conector on the board. I have the part, need someone to attach it to the board
are u able to tell me if you are you able to jsut slide it in with out the plastic the lock in? if the white cover ontop of where it slides in.. if thats cracked does this affect it?
and if the phone will turn on regardless of the 3rd ribbon cabel?
much appreciated if you can help
hey guys,
i replaced the glass of my iphone and pulled out the cable to connector 3 without lifting the clip. although the cable and connector 3 look fine i still have no connection (sensor and earpiece not working). is it possible that the connector got broken, and how can i test it?
thx for your help
edit : it's a 3gs
edit2: i checked the cable under the microscope and found some fractures on the copper contacts...does someone know if there is a difference between the sensor flex cable of the 3gs and the one of the 3g? i need a cable for 3gs but i only found some for 3g.
thank you...but i'm still not sure if it is really the cable, actually it should make contact.
i don't know how the connector is built up internally, so do you think it can be broken because not having lifted the white clip before pulling out the cable?
regards
ok i think i will follow that way. last question: should i see the movement of the pins when i watch into the connector (where the ribbon cable goes in) with a loupe while moving the pushing down the clip?
it's quite ****** my new touch screen also is not working, i have deviations, that means if i press a button for an app it takes the one which is left?!?! anyone also got a broken replacement touchscreen? i just ordered another one to check it.
ok now to the connector:
do you know where i can order one? i decided to try it myself
the cable came apart when i removed digitizer...therefore the connection is still on spot it should be it is just no longer attached to the actual cable. Repairable with just the part available on ebay? Don't want to take phone apart again if someone knows right off. thanks
mine looks like the second picture...the cable is not attatched to the connector. Instead of the connector and cable coming off together the connector stayed on the pins and the cable tore away. Hope that makes it clearer?? wish i had taken a picture before closing up but iphone is my only phone (no landline)
ignore my last post, i reread and think i understand. I thought the connector came off but as you explained it just slides under. I guess I didn't break anything? that is a relief.
Hector:
This morning I tried my original battery, and in the process broke ribbon 3's receiver as well. The instructions said to lift the receiver up 90 degrees, which I thought was the white part. After it started bending and cracking, I realized there was a black latch that I was supposed to be lifting. In any event, the receiver is pretty much destroyed. I ordered a cheap broken iPhone on eBay, hoping to "Frankenstein" it with my current iPhone to have a working model again (at least for a month, until the new one comes out). If that doesn't work, however, I will be soliciting your help. Please PM me if you're still willing to perform those installations. Thanks
I've added up a guide for replacing the connector 3.
It is very hard to do, but may be useful for those with soldering skills or to show to someone with soldering skills.
