I think you've already made up your mind and you might as well migrate over to android now since the new iPhone will still be of the 4" size. Don't feel like you're tied into apple"s ecosystem because their is a workaround for nearly everything.

Only reason why I still hold on to my 4s is because I get much better service with AT&T most places I go, while my Galaxy S4 is tied to a sprint line.

If apple has bigger phones I might give them a second look. Loving my note 2 and yes I'm waiting for something bigger. So android for phones and iOS for MP3's and tablets work for me. :)

Tell your brother in law to look into the htc One I have s4, htc one , and iPhone 5. By far, the htc runs smoother and quicker with no lag, the s4 stutters and lags at times .

What a joke. The HTC One is an inferior device. There is no lag with the GS4.

You buy the One if you're obsessed with appearance and want hopelessly outdated software that won't ever be updated by the maker.

Yeah.... That's not how corporations think, let alone successful corporations. They don't make products so they will "sell", they constantly aim to grow and innovate. Blackberry had that mentality and look where they are now.

Apple has been a step behind Android for awhile now. But they still sell iPhones because yes, it is an iPhone. It's really the iOS and how the phone runs. It's flawless. The phone is also simple. Easier to use than an Android/BB or Windows.

I understand you might be an Apple loyal fan (and so am I) but you have to be open/understanding to what OTHER people want. You may be ok with a 4-inch screen but others want a bigger screen. Somebody saying they want a larger screen refers to them wanting 4.3-5" screen most of the time, this is just a ridiculous statement on your part.

It's not ridiculous. What if Apple releases a 4.5" screen? It will never be big enough for some people. Because the S4 has a 5" screen and the Note 2 has a 5.5" screen. They might as well use the Mini as a phone.

Brother in law: If next iPhone isn't a 6, I'll probably move to Samsung

Thats it, Apple is finished

OP:

I was at the same place last year as your Brother in Law is today.
Tell him to take the opportunity to try Android.
It's really not as scary as most people here mention.
Within a week he will get use to the OS and everything is rather easy to migrate into Android.

As a die hard Apple fan, I really don't see anything on the iPhone horizon that will bring me back.
I hope to be proven wrong though.

Life is to short to be unhappy with a phone.

I'm with your BIL. My next phone is Android if the next iPhone is 'more of the same'.

And how incredibly obnoxious for "4 inchers" to continuously say, "Use an iPad mini then!" Sure. Let me just buy a completely different and expensive device. If you prefer the 4 inch screen, fantastic. But I have a feeling so many people feel that way and justify that size because Apple says that's the perfect size. They said that about 3.5, as well. And 9.7 for the iPad. And here we are today. So, enough already.

Why do you care what others buy? I've never felt fear for another's choice of phone they bought.

Use what you like and move on. No need to fear others may buy another manufacturer's phone.
Why care what others buy? Isn't it obvious? I think there's a "love" for Apple, inspired by art, design, excellent customer care, Steve (of course) and many other factors.

Apple has managed to do what most companies and marketing teams only dream of - They have created fans out of customers.

As pointed out earlier, the "Use what you like and move on" attitude has not served Blackberry particularly well. I suspect that if Apple offered a 4.5" screen alongside a 4" screen this year, the larger model would sell the most by far.

Maybe Apple's own marketing is to blame for setting expectations too high in the past. Many have become accustomed to being surprised and delighted with their new Apple product, and when a company they admire takes 2+ years to produce size variants that people clearly would like to be able to choose from, it's disappointing to some.

If you're an Apple fan and want continued success and growth in market share for the company, then "fearing" defections (which is already happening, in my opinion) seems a reasonable choice of word to me. I want lots of people using iPhones, so developers continue to build for the platform and apps that rely on crowdsourcing (like live traffic) remain effective and functional. When people start leaving for other platforms, especially over something that is so easily addressed, I believe it will eventually have a downside in some ways for those who stay.

I'm actually laughing that people are posting so much about:
1. Someone they dont know
2. MIGHT buy something they don't care about
3. Money thats not theirs.
4. Have so much time to give their opinion on something so irrelevant in life

Opinions are like buttholes, everyone's got one and they all stink. Arguing only makes people less open to other input. Thus becoming more ignorant.

Yep alot of people like you, we want a bigger screen but not willing to give up iOS for it.

i like iOS and am heavily invested in Apple's Ecosystem. I have 3 ipads, 3 iphones, 2 ipods and an apple TV.

I would simply prefer a slightly larger screen for my iphone. 4.5-4.7" would be ideal for me.
