I took a shot of the new 11 and 11 Pro whilst picking up my new watch. When side there is very little in it size wise. Note when I checked the 11 screen wasn’t at full brightness in the attached shot but the 11 Pro was.

In comparison to my 8+ both are smaller and have bigger total screens. One thing I did find strange was the video switching when zooming on the Pro. As I zoomed the video flickered and the colour temp changed as I went up and down zoom levels, Pro it was certainly not.

Also found different colour temps when using the different lenses and it just isn’t as intuitive to zoom in and out as it was on all previous duel cameras phones either almost a backward step.
Just look at the clock, stock and settings app icons. The difference is insane.
Try also load a black background on both, maybe with withe text over it. You'll see...

I got the regular 11 Pro but am considering returning it for the Max. I had an XS Max and while the size was bulky and sometimes annoying it was so awesome. The regular Pro is definitely more accessible when one-handing and it's more comfortable in the pocket, but I'm having a hard time adjusting to the smaller screen. The screen size isn't that drastic on paper, but it feels so tiny. I'll mess around with it for another couple days but I may end up returning it.

Got the 11 Pro. Couldn’t go back from OLED, choice of cameras appeals, love the finish of the Pros vs the 11/Xr. Also love my first party saddle brown leather case. Had one on my X, got the same for my 11 Pro. These things age beautifully.

Couldn’t do the Max screen size. Great for photo and video browsing, way too big for anything else. My wife loves her axe after sticking with the SE for so long (she thought she miss the small SE screen size. Now she won’t shut up about how much she loved her big screen Xr. Even that screen and form factor is too big for me. The X/11 Pro is just perfect, both in size and finish.

Sad to report that the biggest deciding factor for me is Apples implementation of OLED using a PWM range that messes with my eyes once again. After several hours of using the Pro Max I can feel the fatigue in the backs of my eyes and my vision feels a little screwy. It’s very subtle and minor but my eyes are telling me “no” this is not for me I think.

Sure starring at a small screen for a long period of time is not going to be good for your vision and I am wearing contact lenses, but I don’t have this issue with any other display. 3rd year of trying Apple OLED with negative results.

I had that issue last year with the Xs Max. it went away after a couple days. With the 11 Pro Max this year everything seems to be fine.

I noticed the demo units in the store only have HD movies on the Apple TV app. So when you put them side by side playing movies it’s hard to tell the difference. Looks like Apple wants to sell more 11 than 11 Pro.

Got the 11 Pro regular size, not the Max. I have big hands, but still think a max is complete overkill. For me a handheld should fit in a pocket easily and not bother me because of its size. You're luring your phone with you everywhere after all.

I have an 2018 iPad Pro for when I want a bigger screen.

The difference in LCD and OLED is pretty obvious though. Not a LCD screen in the entire world gets the blacks as black as an OLED screen.

I bought an OLED TV some years ago, never going back to LCD ever.

Funny!

the iPhone X is what led me to replace my plasma with OLED! After watching a movie on my phone the plasma blacks were never dark enough!

Comparing my XR to my new 11 pro, the 11 pro clearly has a wider gamit of colours and a softer look due to the higher resolution. The LCD on the XR appears clear and bright at first but it is just brittle and is somehow courser. The blacker blacks on the 11 pro and the truer colours now make the XR look primitive and tiring.

1) there is no visible difference in screen quality, brightness, vibrancy between the iPhone 11 and iPhones 11 pro

If one look at each one on their own, I would have said both are excellent, but if you really compare them side by side, the 11 Pro is definitely better, especially in dark mode.

And that is speaking as someone who dont particularly like OLED.

Is it worth the price? That greatly depends on your income and how you value things.

I've gone 6s -> Xs so kept to the smaller size on the X but now I'm thinking of going all the way to the Max.

One thing that's important to me is battery life. The Xr had great battery life, the 11 is slightly better, but not only is the 11 Pro Max better still based on the published specs but also, because it's an OLED screen, if you're OK with doing as much as possible in dark mode and setting totally black backgrounds/wallpaper wherever possible then, because of the nature of OLED screens, there's more scope for optimising your power usage when the screen is on vs the 11.

I do a lot of ebook reading on my phone so the ability to set my ebook reader to white text on black background and have the OLED screen not even powering up about 80% of the pixels on my screen for hours on end is a big plus of the Pro models for me.

Honestly, I think this is one of those things where you either talk yourself into why the OLED screen is that much better than the LCD and, thus, worth the extra $300-$400, or you talk yourself into why there isn't really that much of a difference or, if there is, it's not enough to warrant the extra money. I think they're both great screens and great phones - obviously, the tech specs of the OLED screens are superior, but it's not going to be some sort of huge improvement over the LCD screens. That's why Apple doesn't make this the only differentiating feature of the Pro models - they pair it with different sizes, better camera specs, better water resistance, different build materials and colors designed to be more "premium," better battery life (at least this year on paper), and a 4x4 MIMO antenna (that, in theory, is faster than the 2x2 MIMO on the non-pro models).

For me, it isn't usually that difficult to talk myself into paying more for "premium" features, but probably what made me go for the 11 this year is the size. I think the Max is just too big and the smaller 11 Pro is a tad small. I think the size of the 11 is a bit of a sweet spot, at least for me - saving $300-$400 makes it feel even sweeter.

I went to the apple store yesterday (9/21) to get an iPhone 11. I looked at both the iPhone 11 display as well as the 11 pro/pro Max and they both looked almost identical to me and I’m being totally honest. The only time you would really notice a big difference is in black background.

Also, if someone has an iPhone X, XS, XS max or XR you should definitely NOT upgrade in my opinion, it’s the exact same experience. Yes the new phones are a bit better cause they’re newer but the core experience is exactly the same and iOS 13 is available for all of them. I came from a 6s but that’s a backup phone. I really came from a note 10 and a one plus 7 pro before that.

I’ve compared in store and between my iPhone and other people’s and I can’t see enough of a difference between LCD and OLED to pay more for it. If they offer it on the mid tier iPhone, great, if they don’t, then I will live without it. I don’t see it as a big deal when the LCD screens are perfectly good enough.

I got a XS Max last year and returned it for XS. I loved the big screen but, the Max just wasn’t pocketable for me. Got the 11 Pro this year.

Be happy you don’t see the difference. It may save you big money in the future. For me, I could never go back to LCD. It’s as obvious as a grease smear on a window to me.

I was amazed when I visited the Apple store in the capital on Saturday at how little presence the 11 Pro/Max had compared to the cheaper 11 in store. It’s clear which phone they are pushing the most and this is apparent on TV too where I live. I wouldn’t even entertain the Pro phones though at the starting price they demand and it’s good to see only subtle differences across the whole range.

11 is for the masses. The buyers for Pro models probably already know what they want when they walk through the door.

Some people can’t tell the difference between DVD and Blu-Ray or 4K either. It happens.

As far as the iPhones go, I can tell the difference in the screens, and I have the Pro, but it’s more for the telephoto lens than the screen. That being said, everyone who says the only difference is the blacks hasn’t watched any HDR content on an OLED screen. The difference is very striking with HDR.

Pretty much. I even forwarded past the xr (ok. iPhone 11. Lol) stuff for apple’s event. It’s not even a consideration.

I can’t do OLED. I could see a difference (not drastic) when my daughter’s XS was side by side with my XR (haven’t actually put my 11 next to it), but I certainly think the display is pretty dang awesome when I’m looking at it.
