The screen on XR and 11 is the same? I got the XR at first last year, checking out at the store it seems fine, but once you start using it, I notice the washed black is very noticeable and texts aren’t as sharp either.

I guess some people are not as sensitive, i still find it amaze when I see people saying their aluminum Apple Watch has no scratches after a year of use

My aluminium Apple Watch only has about 3 hairline scratches after 3 years of use. Not everybody hits their watch into things. The screen is perfectly durable for everyday use.

11 is for the masses. The buyers for Pro models probably already know what they want when they walk through the door.

Seemingly one of each, in all colours - take them home for a fortnight of entitled & self indulgent over-analysis.

Apple must have carefully worked out whether their generous returns policy makes them more money or not, but I'm tired of reading of people taking the piss.

Take it up with Apple.

Honestly, just upgraded from the X to the 11 and I don't regret. And I feel it's somewhat more pleasing to the eyes...

Not everyone has an eye for these things. I tend to notice even the slightest variances, especially with displays. While I have not seen the iPhone 11, I can tell you that there is a noticeable difference between my new 11 Pro Max and my previous Xs Max. The Pro is brighter, slightly warmer (in a good way), and has more contrast and color pop than my Xs Max. So, I would imagine the difference between the 11 and 11 Pro is even greater, for those who are able to see these things, of course. ;)

I am contemplating the exact same move. Can you tell if the standard font size in messages are smaller on the 11?

Any other initial pros and cons regarding the screen you would like to mention?

does dark mode look good on it? :)

I didn't notice a difference in size, but remember that you can always zoom the display on the 11 (something you can't do on the X/XS/11 Pro).

Dark mode still looks good, but you won't get the battery savings from and OLED.

I'm really happy with it. I didn't need a telecamera and I'm ok with having just the ultrawide as an extra. The phone is a bit bigger than the X, but I'm ok with that. Yes, the bezels are a tad bigger, but I basically don't see it anymore. Go to a store and try it.
I just couldn't justify the price difference for the OLED and the extra camera. I think the 11 is the more balanced option.

Thanks. I will check it out at a store after work today, but I still think it is hard to decide, as it will not represent real world usage. That is why I like to hear from users on this board.

I actually like the “in-between” size of the phone.

There's a huge difference with OLED. You may not see it in the Apple store, but if you own one you can never go back.

I'm sort of tired of my iPad, as it's time for OLED for those.

I'm not a serious tech person either. Others will chime in here. If there is a single case of a OLED user going back, money not being an object, I will be surprised as hell. Then again, you rationalize, so there's that.
I left the XS for the XR and have been very happy for a year. I am in IT and tested phones for a living at one point.

True. I based my decision a lot on the "price difference" factor. Also, a friend has a XR andI tried it and retried it, to make sure I wouldn't mind switching from OLED.
Yes, there are differences, ofc. But they don't justify the price and I can say I get less eye strain/fatigue from the 11. It's a very good panel (look at the pro iPad!! amazing displays!)

Guess you can always return the phone if you don't actually like it, no? Then you'd have a real world usage ;)

And yes, I also like the size.

I've gone 6s -> Xs so kept to the smaller size on the X but now I'm thinking of going all the way to the Max.

One thing that's important to me is battery life. The Xr had great battery life, the 11 is slightly better, but not only is the 11 Pro Max better still based on the published specs but also, because it's an OLED screen, if you're OK with doing as much as possible in dark mode and setting totally black backgrounds/wallpaper wherever possible then, because of the nature of OLED screens, there's more scope for optimising your power usage when the screen is on vs the 11.

I do a lot of ebook reading on my phone so the ability to set my ebook reader to white text on black background and have the OLED screen not even powering up about 80% of the pixels on my screen for hours on end is a big plus of the Pro models for me.
This is a factor in me being tempted by OLED.

I test phones often myself. I dial numbers over and over again. Sometimes the same number! (If I like them).
I look at the phone screen often also. Now that I think about it, everyone looks at these screens often. No correction, they look at the screen CONSTANTLY. But I digress :)

Unfortunately they will not let us return the phones here. I live in Denmark.

The price difference is certainly enticing, but the main draw for me is the potential for less eye fatigue. I adore the colors on my X, but I have never found the screen relaxing to look at.

The iPad Pro (11 inch) screen is my favorite Apple screen so far.

What a strange post. 😁

But on that last point I agree wholeheartedly. Just this morning on my drive to work I was watching the people walking to/standing at the bus stops and there were very few that weren't looking at their phones.

I know. It's like a science fiction movie. :D

Anyways, I was just joking in reaction to the dude who said he worked in the industry to give gravitas to his LCD love, which i understand. They're cheap.

I need to defend my buying habits. Sorry :D

1) there is no visible difference in screen quality, brightness, vibrancy between the iPhone 11 and iPhones 11 pro

2) I feel like the only person who purchased the pro but didn’t get the max.

What was your honest experience?

massive difference in screen quality.

if I’m watching a movie on my iPhone 11 pro Max, and the movie shows a solid black picture. I ALWAYS THINK MY PHONE SCREEN TURNED OFF!

it is that damn dark^

AMOLED is incredible.

It's interesting how many here can't see the difference between the iPhone 11 and pro screens. I haven't seen them myself yet, but it makes me wonder if Apple has managed to improve their Liquid Retina that much over the XR. Last year when I was debating XS max vs XR, I could easily tell that the XR's display was worse than even my 7 plus. Resolution was one thing, of course, but the color shifting it exhibited did not exist on my 7 plus.

I went with the XS max, but even that one color shifts unlike the 7 plus I had.

I scaled down from the Max to the smaller 11 Pro this year - I am really enjoying the size. Last year was the first time trying that size and it was just too big for my taste.

I can see it on a TV, just not in those three phones positioned side by side

I can see it side by side with black screens - like in the Books app.

Yeah...the 11 is extremely tempting at that price point. It has 90-95% of the functionality of the 11 Pro at around 70% of the cost.

I have the (PRODUCT)RED 11 and I just saw the 11 Pro in space gray last and OMG I’m in love The banding looks even darker this time and the back, just whole phone actually reminds me of the slate gray iPhone 5 which was my all time favorite iPhone color.

I’m going to exchange this week.
