So I was going through my photos recently and noticed that about 90% of the shots I was sure I’d taken in Portrait Mode came out as regular standard photos.

I started digging and now I know what’s going on: after switching to Portrait mode, the camera does NOT actually engage or activate it. The only thing it does is changing the Portrait Lighting. You can clearly see that only then does the bokeh kick in correctly. And I’m devastated as I've "lost" portraits.

I tested this on two iPhone 16 Pro both running iOS 26.5 just few hours ago, and it isn’t working on both.

So watch out, because you might lose a ton of really nice shots like I did. Report this to Apple If you’re affected.
