It's depressing ...

What I heard so far are excuses:

Sure, if only I get good lighting.
They only show the good ones.
Can't tell how bad a camera is because it's used by a pro.

Come one people, don't underestimate yourself. You can do it. It's not rocket science. You can take great photos with the current iPhone 5, or iPhone 4 for that matter. The fact that the pros are going show what they can do with the new iPhone 5s should be an encouragement of what a tool you will have. With a bit of effort you can take great photos too, may be some that are better than theirs.

"But...but they are pros, there is no hope for me." Well, with an attitude like that, there is no hope for you. Imagine looking at a pencil and say, "there is no point: I am not a writer." Everyone has a story to tell, and everyone has a photo to take, and it will be interesting as long as you do it your way.

The worst thing you can do is to give up before you even start.

so basically a few interns with iPhones so they can put it up on some social media and about 100 actual photographers from press and media that in the end need to shared their shots with Burberry anyway.

iPhone is as much of a professional camera as an iPad is a design station - just more stupidity.

They couldn't have partnered with a less chavvy brand? It's a brand that trades on being British but relentlessly screws over British workers. This seems like a repeat of Tim Cook hiring John Browett whilst being ignorant of the history of bad issues.

If they wanted to do a fashion partnership, they could have done Oliver Spencer (to be really cool and British), Saint Laurent (a la Daft Punk) or LV (because the Chinese love it).

wait so it was iSight camera then we had Facetime camera and now we're back to iSight camera again? Maybe Apple marketing needs to have their versioning system looked into?

I wonder what kind of a deal was made? Is Apple paying them to shoot with the iPhone? The publicity will be great for Apple. Now the average Joe will think that the iPhone camera is right up there with a Red. :D

Unfortunately they will only end up posting the best of the best pics I'm sure... So while the posted photos and videos may look real good, I'm sure there will be plenty more that we never see.

So no different than usual then.

You know, I bet they do the same thing with pictures taken using other cameras too...

I mean, seriously?! This is the level of bitching we're sinking to? The new iPhone 5S doesn't magically take only beautiful pictures?!?!

Burberry probably had to pay for the opportunity. Tons of publicity for them. I for one had never heard the name before, even read it as Blackberry and was confused.

Burberry knows how to work with the hand that feeds them very well. This will not be a snafu but a highly orchistarted event. I'm sure they will have some old pro's at the event snapping pics with the 5S.

However, notice the announcement didn't say "exclusively with" with the 5S but only "with" the 5S. I'm sure the pro's will have their regular choice of Cannons or Nikons alongside this 5S ... perhaps a Leica or Hasselbalds if their equipment insurance is paid up.

What are you talking about? The iPhone has had both an iSight camera and a FaceTime camera since the iPhone 4. It's just been updated and apple referres to it has the FaceTime HD camera now

iSight - Back camera
FaceTime HD - front camera

I think that is safe to state that the Burberry name is quite well known. As someone stated earlier, Burberry is the Apple of the fashion world.

Burberry should have hooked up with Hasselblad and used on of these. :D

Seriously?

How would this be any different with any other camera? People take bad pics and video will all sorts of equipment and use only the best compositions from said camera to compose the piece.

There will still be lots of other photographers and video crews there recording it all too, just in case the iPhones don't work out. And who knows, maybe Burberry itself will be using other cameras, too. They didn't say "only" iPhones.
