True, but a person can only do so much to improve the quality of the images/video footage.

This is true although I have seen some pretty amazing shots that people have taken with iPhone.

Unfortunately they will only end up posting the best of the best pics I'm sure... So while the posted photos and videos may look real good, I'm sure there will be plenty more that we never see.

But that's the case for all photographers and that's why pro photographers take thousands of shots (we never get to see) just to get a few images they can use. Doesn't make any difference if it's a DSLR they are using or an iPhone, they'll still only show the best...which makes perfect sense.

**EDIT** I've just realised that a few others have mentioned exactly the same thing above!

"The phone also includes a "True Tone" dual-LED flash, built-in image stabilization, and new camera modes. "

No true image stabilization, unlike in several other flagships like the Lumia 92x, 1020, HTC One and LG G2.

I can see headlines now:

"The new 5S camera is so magical, Kate Moss healthy!"

Is just such a huge gimmick to me. I do hate who people are bastardizing trades and using iPhones in place. Think Chicago Sun-Times.

Anyone cared to watch the video in the post? Apparently not since you all are deliberating what the result will be, in the end it says the video was shot with an iPhone 5S  ;) The field of depth shots are amazing IMHO

I think collaboration with Burberry is a great idea, Apple needs to further distinguish itself from plastic Samesung. Some people invest $$$ in tuning their iphone with gold and diamonds, ever seen anyone doing that with a Samesung? I have a goldplated 4S myself and love it.

That's true of the shots they are shooting with the high-end pro SLRs as well. If you've ever seen a fashion shoot or modeling session they keep like 10% of the shots (bad facial expression, bad hang of the clothes, weird shadow, etc).

The issue with this video is that while beautiful, it was shot mostly in soft focus (hides a lot of flaws) and by a team of professionals with a group of editors who know what they're doing. Also they are all staged shots. Totally different than the runway environment, with flashes popping all over the place, dramatic lighting and fast moving action.

Wow. I had about 50 lines describing all the things wrong with this post. I gave up. There is so much wrong here. Please read what you typed and think about what it says about you.

Since it's in London, it is most certainly not a "runway" show, unless I missed the part where they are filming at Heathrow and dodging the planes anyway. In London, a "runway" is a place where planes take off and land, and a "catwalk" is where models show off clothes.

Also being linked with Burberry is not a particularly good thing. As 'designer' brands go, they are about the lowest of the low, exclusively sold to the type of people who want to pretend to others that they have more money than they really do, and actually just showing they have poorer taste than most.

Yay. Someone actually discussing the the video.

I watched the video and thought "wow, pretty damn good." Then I watched it again, and what I noticed was less inspiring. There are so many fades that almost no shot is on the screen by itself, and I realize that I'm wowed mostly by the photographer and the editing. When I try to analyze the quality of the video, it doesn't appear bad, but it really appears to be professionally lit, professionally edited, and professionally shot with a cheap video device.

As far as (narrow) depth of field in the video, I'm not sure it really exists, or if it's just from all the fades.

That said, for video from a phone camera, it doesn't come across as bad, but that video obscures the images; it doesn't highlight them.

Bad video

Dont see how this is supposed to show the quality of the iphone 5S camera.

It looks like it is an amazing camera (if the pics are anything to go by) but this video is so full of masks and effects that it could have been done with a 100$ pocket camera.

Is this because Apple is so China focused now ?

Apple, please don't fall into the trap of becoming too focused on your shareholders you forget your customers. There has been a change in focus in the last few years. Red thread (!) is China, because of the demand from investors to keep growing sales at all cost!

Burberry is very popular in Asia. This is probably why they work with Burberry; to let Burberry market Apple by saying "look at this video! Entire fashion show captured on iPhone 5S!" Way to work you in as the luxury brand in Asia! Well played.

Burberry probably had to pay for the opportunity. Tons of publicity for them. I for one had never heard the name before, even read it as Blackberry and was confused.

Wow really, you know they've only been around since 1856 and you will find them internationally in every known upper end department store standing right.

So you post a link to a US dictionary. I guess you completely missed the point, which was that the term would not be used in London.

I don't like Burberry, or Apple's association with them....I think this is a bad brand matching choice, particularly given the perception of Burberry at least in the UK.

As an exercise to show just how good the camera is *on a phone* however, I think it's interesting. It's not that long ago that camera phones were awful and only good for "spur of the moment" pics that you wouldn't really treasure....Now we have 1080p Video and decent images that can stand up to being printed and framed.
