Exactly, ignoring the name, the MBP16 keyboard felt like a ( slightly ) better BF keyboard, but felt so different to the Magic Keyboard. Basically still ****.

Basically the Pre-BF keyboard were the "As good as Apple Magic Keyboard".

Now you get why some people are mad.
So basically in 2015 and before, you're saying that the keyboards were worse because the "Apple Magic Keyboard" is not as good as the current keyboards nor are they as good as a proper working butterfly keyboard. Most people who use laptops actually like keys that are easy to press like the butterfly keys and the new magic keys. The only people who don't are the minority of users which also tend to be the ones who post the most online i.e. Vocal minority.

Anyways, is makes perfect sense that the old Magic Keyboard is not nearly as good as the butterfly and definitely not as good as the current "Magic Keyboard" which is really like an modified butterfly keyboard (supposed to feel like the butterfly but have less mechanical issues). Most people love the butterfly keyboard (in fact, some people purchased a macbook instead of another laptop because of the feel of the butterfly keys) and the new magic keyboard. The only reason Apple changed the butterfly keys to an updated magic key is not because people did not enjoy the butterfly keys, it's because they sometimes malfunctioned. It certainly is not because people disliked the feel. Maybe you dislike it KSEC but you are in the minority just like most users on this website (most people who own apple devices are not posting opinions/etc on MacRumors)

I’d like to see the data on your minority claims.
But you’re right, they reversed course on the keyboard front because of the utter unreliability of their last offering, with the nice side effect that keyboards now feels better once again.

Yeah, I prefer the Butterly too (and recently bought a 2019 15" just because of the keyboard), but I might HAVE to get a 16" because 15" ones did not come with 5600. I have been told that VEGA20 gets hot with external monitors too...

no problem with typing on 2019 MacBook butterfly, I like the thin design and the key travel and click is fine, it just looks like an old MacBook with the new keyboard
Spending 4 years on my 2016 butterfly MBP, I really missed the scissor-switch keyboards. Trust me...

Spending 4 years on my 2016 butterfly MBP, never once have I wished to go back to a scissor-style keyboard and even with the new "Magic Keyboard" I still absolutely don't want to.
I strongly hope by the time for me to upgrade, Apple will have something superior to offer.

I purchased a macbook pro 15 inch practically on a whim because of the butterfly keyboard feeling. was my first apple product purchase.

Same thoughts here. Didn’t buy anything in Apple laptop land since 2015 for that reason. Glad the better one is back in its place and hope they can improve on it.

What can be more superior than Scisors ?
Ermm maybe a tactile feels ?

As someone who had two different MacBooks with the old keyboard design , I can safely say you had to baby that keyboard and wipe it down all the time and use air or the space bar would stick or random keys would get stuck in.

If by old you mean butterfly, I agree, the amount of babying was insane, but didn’t help reliability in the end, something no other Apple portable has had a problem with in the last 15 years I dragged them around the globe.

I’ll leave the details to Mrs Stern to explain:
