This is just a friendly reminder that you should protect your Apple investment with a case. This applies to iPhones as well. Today, I accidentally smacked my Apple Watch against a door at work. It cracked the glass. The glass of my case that is. I would have freaked out if I did that to the face of my Apple Watch. A cheap case with tempered glass saved my watch. Stop being stubborn and just buy a case already!

You are free to put a case on whatever device of yours you want, but demanding others that they have to use a case is not really your concern. I do have a case on my iPhone, but I will never put a case on my beautiful Gold SS Apple Watch. The Sapphire screen is more than strong enough for all of the times I have banged it on a door or wall. There are also no scratches on the watch screen either. If there ever is damage to any of my Apple devices, I have AppleCare+ to have it repaired at a small cost.

Usually I'd agree but I've tried a case once...bulky and rather out of place on the watch. IMO, anyways.
What kind of case do you have?

I've been wearing one of these since series 1 and haven't had any situations yet *knock on wood*. I think having AppleCare would be my advise for accidents.

It’sa lot easier to break a cheap tempered glass protector than the crystal on a watch. Nothing to say your watch would have broken under the same impact that broke the case.

I’m active and rough with my watch and I’ve never so much as scratched the Apple sapphire screens. No case here. You do you. As a newbie you could also ask yourself why your tone has provoked the response it has.

I don’t use a case on my iphone since 6 and 7, never had a broken screen or a broken back since 8 plus (XS, 12 mini, 14 PM now), only tempered glass screen protector. AW series 2 aluminium e 4 stainless steel without screen protector and case, just a little crack on the screen of the series 2 replaced with AC+.

That doesn't mean that the glass of the watch would have cracked. In my experience it's harder and thicker than "tempered glass" cases. I put a screen protector film on my first watch but didn't bother with my second one - i smack it against things (also mostly doors or doorframes) from time to time, but no damaged glass since 2015, so I guess I'm safe. Putting a case on an already big smartwatch kinda feels (and looks) to me like wearing a helmet while walking - in case you slip.

Imagine how people would react to someone posting something like this on a luxury watch forum.

If people aren’t going to put a protective case on a $5000 Omega Speedmaster or a $15,000 Rolex Submariner, I don’t know why anyone would advocate for putting one on a $400 Apple Watch.

My stainless steel Apple Watch Series 6 survived a 100 kph motorcycle crash and an 80-metre slide down the road with zero damage other than a barely perceptible scuff on the screen. My aluminium Series 0 and Series 3 watches survived years of use and abuse with barely a scratch. The titanium Apple Watch Ultra that’s been sitting on my wrist since last September looks brand new, and I haven’t exactly been babying it.

I have a case on my iPhone, because it’s a glass sandwich, and I drop things. I don’t have a case on my Apple Watch — never have, never will.

Totally agree when it comes to iPhones and iPads.. not so much with the Watch.

I’ve been really impressed how my series 4 had stood up to years of abuse with no cracks or damage, and I think a case would have spoiled the usability experience of the device. The small screen seems quite durable in comparison to the larger screens on iPhones/iPads.

I'm on team naked. I've cracked a screen before, putting a roof rack on my car. I have scratches on my screen now, just from being outside and doing things. But for me the watch is already as bulky as I can stand. Not willing to add anything more to it, even at the risk of the screen.
