I got the air 2 only because my 4th gen died. Otherwise I would have waited for the next release. The iPad 4 manages iOS 8 very well.

Greetings,

Florian

Well, iPad 1 didn't have it at least mine didn't. Also why do you say it will always have this defect?

How did you manage to kill it?

It's just port QC with Apple ....you could of had a good iPad 1 but I've seen this issue pop up for years

I charged it over night, it did the icloud back up and next morning it could not be woken up again.
No HW reset / iTunes possible.

But that's OT.

Buy Ipad Air 2 or wait the next Ipad

Ok is it possible that later units are built better with less defects than earlier units made in October?

I bought the iPad Air back in December and gotten replacements in January with the same issues ....these are the same exact issues I've read year after year of IPad releases ..... The iPad Air 2 I bought at launch and never had issues with screen as well but I wouldn't discredit the factory making these iPads have issues with QC on their hands.

Btw it's cheaper to check one batch of anything product you sell then to QC every single one sold . If the one they check is fine they will send that batch out and cheaper for the person who has an issue IF they can see it or care about it to return for an exchange. So while you could happen to get a good one doesn't necessarily mean every one will have a perfect screen. Yellow tinting , book binding issues are lcd issues and from I've read through various forums here and otherwise book binding and yellow tinting has been an issue with iPads since the first one.

All that being said I think it could be a QC issue since this always happens and the amount is staggering

Note: I bought an iPhone 4 at launch and the first one had a broken speaker but the replacement worked perfectly. While if I intentionally squeezed onto the phone into the so called "Death grip" I would lose some bars I never had a huge issue in normal use

Same issue. got my air 2 and love it.... but wondering if i should take back and wait for the 3(if it exists in the first place). Obviously like someone pointed out you will be waiting forever for the "best" but it does worry me that the 3 might have a higher res and better battery. oh well. decisions.

You know this, and then you still worry... :)

The next iPad will always have something that you wish your current iPad had. It's never done, it never ends. Sure, some improvements are bigger than others, but no matter when you buy an iPad, it will be "dated" in less than a year.

If you enjoy the iPad Air 2, keep it and cherish it. If you wish it was different, take it back and wait. Personally, I prefer to live in the "now", and not fret too much about the future. If the next iPad does something my Air 2 doesn't do, and I want that, I'll buy one. In the larger picture, $600 isn't an impossible amount of money. In the meantime, I love my Air 2 to bits.

So why is this problem on the iPad only not macbook retina or iphones? My iphone 5 got green glow but after about 2 years of use and it only show on absolutely white backgrounds.

Also, does other tablets from other manufacturers suffer same problem?

I think that there are people with an iPad Mini 2 that would disagree. ;)

I most definitely agree. I'm still using (and enjoying as much as iOS 8 allows me to) my iPad 4 on a regular basis... waiting for an iPad Pro.

We're seeing a similar thing with other Apple products lately. Macbook Air is an example. People have been holding out for over a year for a significant update. In the meantime, I've been thoroughly enjoying and using mine while they wait.

Not bad advice at all i am sure you are enjoying the air 2. sadly some people like me cant really afford to live in the now with everything. Especially if a higher res screen is coming out. If its tiny improvements its no big deal though.

I can't imagine needing a higher resolution screen than the Air 2 has. The way the display sits against the glass makes it a joy to look at. Once we got to retina level displays where pixels cannot be seen, any resolutions higher than that are just to make a spec sheet look good.

not true. The Samsung tab s has a higher res and it looks better. I don't care for the color saturation but the difference is clear and is noticeable. Its a complete myth that you cant tell the difference.

Maybe I didn't word that correctly. Yes you can see a difference. But what is the benefit? If I go to Best Buy and look at 4k TV's I can see a bit sharper image vs my 1080p but what is the point? Is my 1080p going to cease to work because there is a better resolution TV available? Once Ipad's went from non retina to retina, we were no longer able to see pixels. That was the significant jump in resolution that was necessary to enjoy a true multimedia experience on a tablet.

Once a displays pixel density is high enough that you don't see pixels, the benefits from there on up are minimal. My iphone 6 isn't even 1080p yet the display is great.

It is all personal opinion but I wouldn't pass on a device with a great display just in case a better one comes on the next version. The new version will always have something your current device doesn't have. It's part of the process of trying to keep up with technology:cool:

To me there is a benefit. If there is a chance for a higher res i will wait. Is there a chance or no?

I haven't heard anything but I suppose it's possible. Apple is generally last to upgrade displays on their devices though. As I mentioned, the ip6 doesn't even have 1080p yet while other manufacturers are putting quad hd displays in their smartphones so it may be another generation or 2 of iPad before we see anything better than what is in the Air 2.

I don't see them making any big improvements to an Air 3 this year since the Pro will be out in the fall. Performance wise, the Air 2 will hold its own into 2016.

Personally I don't really care that much for performance. I just find the battery lacking slightly.

I'm thinking the next iPad could be quite the jump if it gets the force touch? That would be a pretty big new feature, don't you think?

will wait as far as I'm concerned just coz i have blown all my money on mac pro :D ...so probably next january when the iPad air 3 comes out.

I have an ipad 2 air the presence of slight distortion there, BUT if you look at the internal air dell'iPad 1 and 2 dell'iPad air (as emphasized by other users of this forum) is clear of the reason for this effect (which is yes, it can be annoying, but only in extreme cases).

Ipad air 1

Ipad air 2

While the ipad air 1 has the glass and the separate displays plus a greater thickness of the frame, the ipad air 2 in addition to having a thinner frame has the glass and the diplay panels, this means that with an average pressure on the right side dell'iPad air 2 is more sensitive.
It is useless to ask for replacements so because this effect is inherent in the structure dell'ipad air 2.

P.S. after four years, I have only just discovered that my ipod touch 4g has this "feature" discovered by chance watching a video on youtube and I never had any :D

If the past has taught us anything this year should bring a significant update to the iPad. Possibly a case redesign, force touch, and USB-C. I'd wait.
