Austria :)

Btw upgrading Ram wont void the warranty right? Amazon is selling 8Gig SoDimm for 80€ atm....

nope, RAM/HDD are user serviceable parts so you can rip that sucker open and tinker on those things.

i thought you were a german speaker because your writing style reminded me of a friend from germany who wrote perfect english except for one or two oddities :)

i like vienna tho, beautiful city

I strongly doubt there will be a redesign anytime soon. The current design is not yet 3 years old, whereas the previous design stayed with us for 7 years(from the powerbook days).

Buy now if you want one.

There are oddities in my writing? Please elaborate!
In Austria we speak German too btw.

On Topic: I will order another 4GB Ram next month then. or maybe i should order 8 and install 4 GB in my iMac.

How many Ram slots do MBPs have?

Edit: Thanks Snaky69

They have two, and they support up to 16gb of ram.

just in the grammar/syntax that's all, nothing a normal person would notice.

i know they speak german in österreich, hence why i said "german speaker" :p

i wish i could speak german; i just know many random words but very few tenses or articles.

sorry for going off topic

edit: whoops, redundant information! i have nothing further to add

Or buy now, look after it and sell / rebuy if they re-design. Some loss there but ....

I don't think they're gonna redesign the MBP anytime soon. It just doesn't make sense really, it's a perfect form and I can't think of anything that'll make it better --- maybe make it slight thinner and lighter, but that's about it. They're trying to eventually go cloud on everything, so the CD drive is prob going to be gone soon. Only current reason to wait on a 'new' MBP is for a free copy of OSX Lion lol, saves you $30-80 depending on how they want to price it

The 2011 version is worth it, first processor with dynamic switching on the GPUs --- the integrated gpu is awesome for battery life!

I heard Apple is going to concentrate in the MacBookAir segment in the nearby future, waiting for them to come out with refreshed ones so I can sell my gf's 2009 13 MBP for it.

Never buy something that you don't need now. Never hold off on something that you need now.

Never feed angry bear with hand. Never stand on top rung of ladder. Never urinate in direction of fierce wind. Never purchase sex when wife at home.

(just thought I'd add some of my life lessons to the mix)

Need = Buy Now
Don't Need = Don't Buy Now

It's that simple.

If, on the other hand, you have money burning a hole in your large pockets then go for it.

only if u can take advantage for the quad-core architecture....for most people, it would be much more impactful to wait for the brand new design in 2012 :D

I think most people will benefit from it...

-previous design lasted 7 years, current design is on its 3rd year.
-When the new MBA were released I swear it said "The next generation of MacBooks"- this could mean that the MB/MBP could be taking a wedge design?
-lots of people are speculating that the new MBP will not have a superdrive and instead carry a SSD/HD combo

-MBP has 2 RAM slots, supports upto 16GB
-If you get a MBP with 4GB, it comes with 2x2GB meaning you would have to remove them to upgrade to 8GB
-HD and RAM are user replaceable and wont void warranty

Apple products have great resale value. Buying now and selling later shouldnt hurt your wallet to much. Be sure to stay on Macrumours (or other alike sites) and keep on top of the rumors. When evidence about a new release comes up, be sure to sell before a public announcement to maximize resale value. Plus, its like 10 months of waiting....who wants to wait that long?

Awesome, thanks everyone, i will go and buy one today or tomorrow. I'll keep you updated and join the discussions about it in near future.
