For what it's worth the latest round of rumors are saying Apple Watch 2 To Be Launched At WWDC 2016.
Maybe or maybe not... If they wait till Sept then they have a new iphone and a new ipad to promote. June would seem like a better time for the watch.. and if watch os3 is ready then well all the more reason to announce the new watch 2 with the all new os 3

I wonder what they would change. It's fast enough, it's durable enough, it looks good enough, the battery last long enough… plenty of "it is [______] enough" to make it a great smartwatch already.

More materials, maybe? Titanium because it's lightweight and more hypoallergenic than 316L? Hardened tool steel? Probably not all-sapphire since it's not shatterproof (and it'll show off the glue inside).

I think there's a lot of room for improvement, personally. They can add a faster and more power efficient processor and maybe another sensor (maybe enable the pulse oximeter that's supposedly in it). They could add better wifi and chips.

I think the most important thing is upgrading the processor, so that it doesn't lag as much.

i was never a fan of the Apple Watch but when the $100 discount came and then Target lowered the price by another $50, it caught my attention. then, i scored some Target gift cards at a steep discount from eBay and created a Target registry to get the 15% off coupon which Target was accepting on the Apple Watch (they have since killed it).

final price for the Apple Watch Sport 42mm was just $193 out the door. can't beat that so it was a no-brainer. of course add apple care to that so really it's ~ $250

I just bought one off of ebay - it is in seemingly perfect condition and I got it for just under $200 - 42mm sport version with a white apple silicon band. I then got an open box leather knock off band from amazon warehouse for about 10.00 and am waiting on an open box apple black silicon band from ebay (19.00) to arrive. I wanted to play with this version to see if I might like the next version when it comes out. For me, getting it used and at a relatively (for an apple product) reasonable price, makes it such that if I don't love it - not a big deal. And I will also be a little more informed if the new watch fixes or improves things I want to be different or better.

That philosophy never prevented Apple from releasing a new iPhone model each year.
Again, I don't think it's in the same category as the iPhone at all.

Does the AW have a camera to upgrade? Next-gen LTE? TouchID? Does it need to push a few million polygons for gaming? How many GPU cores does it take to drive that little screen?

How many times has the iPod Nano been refreshed lately?

Doesn't matter as they manage to sell a busload of new iPhones every other year with very little changed in the form of "S"-type update.

They'll still sell a boatload of AW2 even if they add only one new feature and give it a slightly thinner re-design.

Will they? Last time I checked, Apple Watch sales disappointed wall street analysts and came in lower than expected.

As for OP - he should buy the watch if he wants it. Or don't if he doesn't. This is a first gen product, no one knows how long it will be before it's refreshed. Just because the iPhone is refreshed yearly doesn't mean **** for the watch refresh cycle. No one knows right now. Just buy it at a steep discount and enjoy it. If you are gonna fret about dropping $250 on an apple watch and cry if it's updated in 6 months, then you probably shouldn't be buying it in the first place from a financial perspective.

I'm going to wait, I don't have one now, want one really bad and think it would be very handy for working out and notifications.

If I find one for a crazy deal, i would buy one now and sell it when the rumors start flowing for the AW2.

I got mine off Craigslist.. SS 42mm w/ 2 extra Official Sports bands for a great deal

I was hoping for AW 2 now that would track blood pressure! That would be a huge improvement and not sure whether it is even technologically possible!

As soon as you hear of a blood pressure device which doesn't involve an inflatable cuff, let us know.

I'd never wear something so snug on my wrist every day. But I'm just speaking for myself.

Like I said, not sure if it is technologically possible--referring to the inflatable cuff. If we can make flat screen TVs, put humans on the moon, viewing and communicating with a person live using Skype or FaceTime, and taking a person's body temperature without touching that person (infrared technology), you would think an easy way (no cuff) to take BP would be possible--even if the reading is "only" directionally correct.

Have the same dillema - I'm working at an office and my calendar is full of things. Wondering whether to wait for AW2 or buy now the sport version to try it out.

AW2 would be the SS version. Just having lots of thoughts about it. Would be mainly for notifications and as a sports monitor for my workouts.
Any thought?

This was my same thought process. Get an entry level a Apple Watch Sport while on sale to try it out and see what I think of the device. Then when Apple Watch 2 comes out, upgrade.

I thoroughly enjoy my Apple Watch and glad I made the decision to purchase one. I recommend you try it, worst case scenario if you don't like it, return it within the exchange period.

I wonder. Because if it's $299 for a 42mm, that could be enough for me.

I checked yesterday, and they had them for $399. A bit weird.

It appears only the 38mm sport models are $100 off, making them $249. The 42mm are "on sale" for $349. Not sure why the 42mm are not $100 off as well. Wish they were.
