However, my opinion on my personal appearance is that SS Watches look much better.
Nothing at all wrong with that. We each have our areas where we're finicky.

I do like the SS watches. I'd probably just go and buy one if I wasn't sort of expecting the S3 to be a one-year watch (for me) and if I could get the Nike watch faces as well as not having to spend another $50 on the band. *shrug* An idea to keep toying with as I wait for the Nike AW3 to be released. :D

Been thinking things over, checking out other bands for the space black and back in a holding pattern.

Thanks for all the input.

Seems totally a personal decision. For me, the price is not worth it for an item that will devalue 50% or more in 2 years, and be less useful. I had an LTE on order but cancelled and got a used 42m Series 2 alum for 265, and it came with an unworn Apple Black Milanese band too. I may get a used S3 LTE in a few months, I don't pay retail very often, I trade a lot.

It is definitely a stunning piece. Feels great, nice gloss to it and blends nicely.

Maybe I just need to hear from the MacRumors fanatics like me to keep it and not downgrade. :)

Yes I got it on launch day.
Keep it. Enjoy it. I still use my S0 SS black with black link bracelet. My wife and mother both have S0 sport models. No comparison on feel and finish. The DLC coating is remarkable. Mine looks brand new after years of daily use.

I thought they all look toy-ish to me. Maybe that’s why I am okay with the aluminum. At least with the aluminum, I don’t have to feel ocd about smudging the SS part everyday lol.

dL

And that's the issue that I did not like the aluminum model, it's much lighter over the stainless, which feels cheap to me and I don't care for how the aluminum looks altogether. The stainless model, gives the Apple Watch a whole new appeal with the high shine of the 316 L stainless and it's 40% heavier over the aluminum, which at least makes it feel substantial.

Obviously you don't use your Apple Watch for exercise.

Obviously you made a poor assumption without asking first. The stainless, albeit is weightier, I do use it primarily for weightlifting. But The aluminum model is likely more suited for fitness, due to its light weight aluminum alloy. But the real point of my Post you quoted, is aesthetics here. I think the aluminum has a cheaper feel and appeal to me. The stainless just has a more elegant look with the 316 L stainless. Strictly preference.

I purchased the 42mm SBSS w/black Milanese and it is an absolutely beautiful watch but I spent a lot on it as we all know.

Almost $900
Ouch, I had buyers remorse (or rather Orders remorse) and pre-ordering the LTE Sport model, so much so, I opted to cancel the order.

For me, and my priorities, spending 900 on a watch that will only last a few years is not worth it, that's just me, and I'm not knocking your decision.

This is yet another great response. Don’t kill yourself with remorse. Apple has a way of getting me to buy things. Priorities was the key thing in this post. Go with your gut on what is best for you.

I don't get why people always make this comment about the aluminium being better for exercise? You have to be a really weak person for the difference in weight to have any negative impact on your routine... It really is a non-issue.

I have a fenix 5 (85g) and a forerunner 935 (49g) and as a runner, can tell you that 36g makes a huge difference to my arm swings and overall comfort. I don't use my AW for sports, but for me personally, weight does play a key role. I think it is about comfort more than not being able to cope with an extra 30g.

Really? I run with both my sport and SS and doesn't bother my form one bit.

When the S0 came out I got the Sport space grey and on the same day I brushed up against my desk corner and ended up with a scratch the whole length of the screen, there was a tiny tiny bit of splintered wood sticking out, I was absolutely gutted. Couldn't return it as I'd damaged it so I eventually sold it at a huge loss and bought the SS model, absolutely loved it, felt premium and it had the comfort of knowing it wouldn't scratch so easily.

I eventually sold that when the S2 was due to come out but never actually ended up buying one.

Fast forward to now, I pre-ordered the S3 Sport space grey, 3 days later cancelled it and bought the S3 SS instead after remembering what happened last time!

I do sometimes think it's a LOT of money maybe I should return it and be more careful with the Sport model but I just love the premium feel.

I bought the Space Black series 0 at launch - and I paid ALOT for it. Skipped the S1 and S2, did not see it as a big enough upgrade. Here comes the S3 and I really wanted LTE, but did not want to drop that kind of money again. So I ordered the Alum and I love it.

My wife has had an S1 Alum for about a year and it is mint and she is much rougher on electronics than myself so I do not see a problem with durability. On Swappa the S0 SS Black is selling for under $200 and Alums going for about $175. I know wearables have lousy resale value, but man! I think the Series 4 will be really special so maybe I will open my wallet for that one!

The way I see it is I feel better about getting the black SS with Milanese than I would spending it on an ipad. If there's any remorse, it's all the money I've spent on ipads that basically don't get used much. And yet, i'd probably jump at an OLED one..lol But seriously, I use the watch every day. I smile when I look at it. It's just a cool device that's more than paid for itself (the S0 SS one) many times over. I really like the black version now. And btw..you really shouldn't care what anyone else thinks, do what makes you happy. Another general rule, if you feel remorse, then you already know you overspent.

As for this apple tv, i am feeling some remorse in that I'm not getting much added value out of it (over the previous). That may go back for now.

Same for me. Upgrading from a launch space grey 42mm to S3 space grey 42mm (arrives today!).

To clarify I don’t care what people think but as with many professions there is a level of certain auras and politics. I had a sport in the past and wore it proudly but the lack of variety in bands didn’t work for me.

Fast forward to this version and splurged on the space black and I absolutely love the look. For me it’s the amount of money spent and the big what if on the next model and this thing depreciating like a brand new car rolling off the lot.

It’s a silly way of thinking and I just need to suck it up and enjoy. The money is spent, it’s a beautiful piece and it has already integrated fantastically into my life.

Just curious on others views who have owners different versions in the past and how it progressed each version. And yes maybe a little cheerleading to keep it. ;)

I wear the Series 2 space gray model in a professional environment. I think it looks fine. I hate how cheap the silver aluminum models look though. Granted I also think the silver stainless looks insanely cheap as well, so that's a bit subjective. I figure if you have people wearing fitbit bands and no one cares, then who cares about the difference between a sport and stainless model.

I tend to pair mine with the Ocean Blue band from last spring. I have a plethora of bands, and it's the one I tend to gravitate towards. I'm curious how close the new cobalt blue colour is to it.

The only reason I wouldn't go with the non-LTE sport model S3 in the future is it having the plastic back (heart rate covers instead of the ceramic they use on the Series 2 and LTE version S3. I had the whole black stainless versus sport model dilemma for the first gen and Series 2 and went with the sport just because it seems like a horrible investment to buy the space black if I'm going to upgrade frequently.

First time I've ever heard anyone say the stainless steel looks cheap, especially "insanely" cheap.

Yeah, I'm just not a fan of the contrast between the black screen / black bezel and case body. I may be an outlier, but I think the silver aluminum / silver stainless / white ceramic all look cheap due to that contrast between to the black screen / light body combo. It's just not as fluid as the space gray and space black stainless. Doesn't mean they are cheap. I just don't like how they look at all.

Edit: to clarify I think the silver stainless / white ceramic look alright if viewed from the side. i just don't think it looks good at all once you view them in normal use where most of the body is hidden and what you see when you look at the watch on the wrist is 85% black screen with 15% light-coloured case framing it.

Funny its the exact opposite for me. Black/gray looks like a cheap plastic toy watch.

No buyer's remorse here. Bought SS Series 0 and it still works. Having read the reviews on S3, it sounds like a huge leap so I ordered one. There is no doubt that the SS is a luxury but I found the aluminium ones looked like toys and one of my business colleagues wore one to meetings where it seemed out of place. Ordered the SB SS S3 and can't wait for it to arrive.

Captains Log: Day 6

Leaning towards keeping today as it looked like a fantastic piece of addition to a navy suit with black accents and got a compliment on the Milanese band, even though I dislike it.

We will see what tomorrow holds. ;)
