Buying an iPad 2 on Launch Day

There will be one less person in line for a shoddy upgraded product, me.:cool:

Where is the retina disply, the great cameras, the 7 inch model, HUH, Steve?
 
MacRumors really needs to update this article to mention that AT&T is also only getting units in-stock at "select" locations. I called two AT&T stores today and was informed by both that they will only be taking orders and will not have any actual units in-stock.

These "Personal Setups" are exactly what is wrong with Apple stores. I'm sorry, they're a great idea, two weeks after a product has been launched.. but all they did was drag the iPhone 4 release to a crawl. They need a line for people with a clue, that can configure their email at home.
 
I will order one online in the morning as a hedge. Then head over to Apple store casually after work. If they have one then I'll cancel the online order.

I assumed after you bought it you'd then get in a different line for set up. This way, the buying line is not delayed. Is this not the way it works?

I was actually thinking of doing this as well. But, how long do you have to cancel your order?? Don't want to end up with two ha.
 
A thousand iPads... He could build a sweet tent out of all those. Imagine the attention THAT would bring him! This plan cannot fail.

Usually until it ships which is often the next day. That would be a potential hitch but you could always return the unopened one you have shipped at some point. Best case, they start selling for a premium my Monday and you make some money. Worst case is a small hassle to have to return but at least you don't have to stress and wait on line like a justin

lol - My husband gave me a waffle iron for Christmas. I told him not to get me anything because I wanted the iPad 2 when it was released. Neither of us eat waffles.
 
Just called 2 Wal-Marts out here around the University of Iowa campus.

Iowa City Wal-Mart:
"Do you have any iPad 2's?" - Me
"No" - him
"Will you have them tomorrow?" - Me
"No" - him

Coralville Wal-Mart:
"Do you have any iPad 2's?" - Me
"Yes" -her
"When can I get one?" - Me
"Tomorrow at 5pm" - her

So I guess im not lucky enough to have idiots working at my wal-marts who might possibly let me buy one at mid-night. I will be hitting up Best buy at 8:45pm, AT&T at 8:50, Wal-Mart at 9:00. I hope I can get a AT&T white 32GB. (This sucks that I dont get out of work till 8:30):mad:

I love waffles, and my iron is about done. I'll trade you an iPod for it.
 
If anyone in here lives in Louisville Ky there's not a Wal-Mart around that says they are selling at midnight. They all seem to know that they're not to be sold before 5 p.m. tomorrow. :(

Depends entirely on what you value your time at.

Personally I'm ordering on-line after I get into the office, and spending the rest of the day working, and probably using my gen 1 iPad which somehow still continues to work fine.
 
Also just called the AT&T store near University of Iowa campus in Coralville.

"Will you be selling the iPad 2 tomorrow?" -Me
"Yes @5pm" -him
"Are you able to tell me how many you have?" - Me
"0 as of right now." -him
