Buying an iPad 2 on Launch Day

If anyone is planning on going to AT&T store for one dont bother, we were informed today that only a couple selective store are getting some if any and that we would have to direct fulfill them instead.
 
Dudes, I hacked "Time Machine" and bought the iPad Telepath! It rocks, I don't have to do anything, just think about it BAM plays 4D movies and 11.1 surround sound. :rolleyes:
 
Just at the local walmart. They have about three or four of the wifi only units. The on duty sales guy said if I wanted one, he'd ring it up as am iPad 1. If I hadn't already decided to go 3G this time around, I'd jump on it. Seems like corporate walmart is at least trying to maintain some control, but YMMV.

They didn't have any whites either he thought. It's a really small walmart though, they just started 24 hours not that long ago.

Just called my two local Walmarts and Target... one Walmart said they won't be getting them for a few weeks. The second Walmart said come by at 5:30 (Huh?). And Target said they are hoping to get them in a shipment tonight, otherwise they won't be getting them. Luckily I have a BestBuy near me too. Looks like I'll be going there.
 
Has anyone gotten an idea of the stock at any of these places in regard to the covers? Got my heart set on the leather tan and to be honest I'm more concerned about scoring that than I am an iPad 2 tomorrow!

You're wrong. It takes more than several weeks to ramp up a product world-wide and if you're not one of the initial few getting, you wait; and wait and wait. iPad 1 was not available for weeks on end initially. Those who pre-ordered were the lucky ones for at least six weeks. Quit trying to piss on the parade.

Same My Wal-mart super center, a normal size store had 12 Wifi iPads 16GB Black, no white ones, and 2 32GB black wifi only. they also had 2 original 16GB wifi iPads.
 
I work for Wal-Mart logistics and get a 10% discount. Hopefully they'll have one left when I get there.
 
Call me crazy, but I'm afraid to buy it at Target tomorrow because I REALLY want a smart cover. You think resellers will carry the smart covers, or just Apple? Besides, I hate the neon colors, I'd want a poly gray or a leather black. I doubt target would have such a selection of smart covers.
 
I used to get it. I'm a fangirl for sure, and I was in line for the first iPhone. But since ordering online has been an option, I don't understand standing in line. Especially not for devices you already have. I will wake up early to order, but that's because I don't want to be left out when/if it sells out. But I don't need to replace mine at the cost of standing in line.

I work at Wal*Mart and so far no word on getting the iPad 2 yet, but the Verizon Rep guy said that we might have some for a 2 year contract. :cool:
 
I can't make it out of work till 5, do you think these will be more or less popular than the ipad 1? the best buy near me last year didn't sell out the first day.
How long do you think it will take to restock?
Should I just buy one online?

That is not actually entirely true either. Apple did not sell out of the iPad 1 for awhile. I actually bout mine about a week and a half after they came out and got it no problem. I expect initial stock of iPad 2 to go about the same. They will likely eventually sell out, but I bet I could walk into my local Apple store this weekend and walk out with one no problem if I wanted, rather then wait for the 5 pm launch tomorrow.
