It’s the same size as the 6 plus when it came out. It’s a huge difference.

The impact of the different aspect ratios is actually pretty huge. Since the Mini has a different aspect ratio than the iPhone 6 or 6+, for some tasks the screen is comparable to the iPhone 6+ and for some tasks the screen is comparable to the iPhone 6. For example, if you are watching a standard youtube video or TV show (with standard aspect ratio of 1.78), the video size is actually smaller than the iPhone 6 let alone the iPhone 6+.

Diagonal length is really not the best measurement to use when thinking about this, again because the devices here have different aspect ratios.

Yes. I agree. The point was there is a lot more screen real estate than the SE no matter how you look at it.

Maybe the regular 13 is a good balance, is lighter. But is equally big as the pro, so if I’m going to hold a 6.1 inch iphone, better if is the pro 😂

I just upgraded to a 13 pro max from an XR. Verizon gave me $700 trade in on the XR (now it’s $800) and frankly I love the size and weight of the phone… then again I’m 6’6” and have pretty good size hands. A few years ago I passed my 8+ down to my daughter and there were quite a few times I wanted to switch back. Now if only Apple would get the fingerprint sensor back on the screen…

Love my 13 mini, battery life is good enough. Can always get the MagSafe battery.

I also love the mini, but the battery life is unfortunately not good enough for my use case. Attaching a slow charging tumor to it is not an option as it defeats the purpose.

I could make do with my 12 mini last year as I was mostly restricted to the office due to health crisis…now that I am able to travel again the Pro Max is the most viable option.

Sorry to say this but decided to ditch the 13 Pro…It’s just way too big and heavy.

So I decided to go with the iPhone 13 Mini. Would like to know the battery life as well compared with the iPhone 12 mini (which I still have) and will use until my 13 mini arrives.

Just like the light feel and form factor. And not as tight in my pocket which is a selling point for me.

Not into the camera stuff or watching videos. I do pretty much the basics as far as use goes.
At least you gave it a go, it’s a good thing there is the option of the Mini.

The Pro Max range of iPhones is quite simply not for everyone, I am actually shocked that the 13 Pro Max is the second best selling phone after 13, I would have thought more people would prefer the smaller and lighter 13 Pro.

Often times when I give people my 11 Pro Max to look at something or browsing something, they exclaim “it’s so heavy!” and I think to myself this is not even the heaviest iPhone around 🤣

All the best with 13 Mini, it’s battery life should be a lot better than the 12 Mini due to significantly larger battery and more efficient A15 chip.

What are you talking about?? The 13 Mini screen is larger than the SE by almost 3/4 of an inch.
You are right. But my friend had his 13 stolen, got the mini, and when I helped set him up it was smaller than my SE. I will check his phone again.

The 13 pro is hefty but in a good way to me. But I can understand why it may not be for some people. Battery life on the 13 mini is reported as being pretty good compared the the 12 mini, plus I went from a 12 mini to a 13 pro and I can say the cellular performance is much better, especially on 5G with the updated modem. If you’re gonna get a mini now is the time to do it considering it’s likely being discontinued.

If the mini has a high refresh screen I would have chosen it. Some don’t notice it but I can immediately tell when I’m using a phone that doesn’t have high refresh rate now and I won’t pick a model without it now.

I feel you. The X/XS design and size are the perfect IMO. New 6.1" screen combined with the flat edges just completely broke one hand usability. I have an average size hand and can't reach the app icon on the other side of the screen one handed. Even the 13 mini doesn't feel quite comfortable to hold, compared to iPhones with rounded edges. Hope the redesign next year will make it easier to hold.
This. The X was kind of perfect in terms of form factor and screen size for me. The mini feels too small to type, and my current 13 pro is way too big to comfortably hold with one hand, and the square edges with a case make it that much more uncomfortable and difficult to fit into pockets. I remember thinking how great the curved edges were when they first came out. Hopefully they will return to this.

The 13 mini as I know still comes with a USB to Lightning cable in the box. Can I use my existing Apple USB-C to Lightning cable along with my Apple USB-C 20W charging adapter? Will those be compatible with the 13 mini?

I can’t wait for the 13 mini to arrive. So excited.

However, the 13 mini as I know still comes with a USB to Lightning cable in the box. Can I use my existing Apple USB-C to Lightning cable along with my Apple USB-C 20W charging adapter? Will those be compatible with the 13 mini?
Yes

The 13 Pro was really uncomfortable in my pocket especially when walking up the stairs…It just felt too tight.

iPhone 13 already comes with a USB-C to Lightening cable, so will fit your 20W USB-C adapter just fine.

Well, perhaps because of the stainless steel frame. I know, it’s silly. But I decided to get a mini instead.

I’ll probably sell it to someone or maybe just keep it for home use only.

Yes, it’s silly but at least I know my sweet spot as far as size goes are leaned towards the Mini.
Not silly. I don’t like that Apple forces us to choose between either premium materials or reasonable screen/phone sizes. I used to upgrade every 2-3 years. Now I’m using my iPhone 4 and iPhone X until they die, and hopefully by then Apple makes an iPhone 5-sized all-screen flat-backed phone. I don’t want a phablet with a giant camera tumor on the back, and I’d prefer steel.

I am in the same situation as you. I still use my iPhone 5S and my iPhone X. I have had the batteries replaced on both of them and they are both in daily use.
I also have a new and still in box iPhone SE 2020 ready for when one of my daily drivers are no good anymore.

I just use both my phones as phones for making calls and sending texts.

13 mini or its unlikely successor is in my future. 12 Pro owner but the combination of squared edges and considerable heft are slowly making me resent it. The moment it looks like Apple will withdraw the mini from sale I’ll be buying one.

The same thing happened in Star Trek the original series. They had 4-inch Communicators and then in the Star Trek II the Wrath of Khan, they used these big bulking iPhone Pro Max communicators.

I get so much hand cramps from holding the X. Even at its average 5.8 size, it’s still heavy. I have hold it why resting my hand on the bed. I think Apple needs to switch from stainless steel to aluminum on the premium iPhones. When I hold a standard 6.1 iPhone I’m blown away by how light it feels. But when I upgrade next year, I do plan on getting the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I did the same as you. The macro camera was horribly implemented in iOS, so that took a lot of joy out of that feature for me. I found the 13 Pro far too heavy as well. Also, and I know i'm pretty much alone on this, I think the stainless steel case looks chintzy. It looks decent in product photos but in person it looks like a phone that's trying to be a luxury item. Brushed steel might have counteracted this but the shiny steel is an unwelcome flourish on the industrial design.

Also though - the 13 mini's battery life is shockingly bad if you're using it a lot on a 5G network. So, there's no such thing as a free lunch. I can live with it, but it's as bad as you've heard.

I’m curious what people mean when they say a phone is “too heavy”. Too heavy for what? How are you using the phone when you say this thing is just too heavy?
