I agree that the cables separating are a separate issue from the quality of the phone but I need my phone to work for me in the background without having to worry about other things. Getting zapped when I unplug it from the wall is just not worth it to me.

But alas, I'm stuck with it anyways since I've got a ways to go before my contract is up.
I agree that the cables are crap. I've had at least three seperate on me.

I could go through quite a few more without even thinking about getting rid of my phone, which has nothing to do with the cable breaking.

I completely understand, I can't finish the rest of my post though because my computer's charger seems like it may not be 100% up to par with my computer, so I'm throwing out my computer, anywa.................

The cords are reinforced. I have had 3 cables, all with no issues. I have one I travel with, no problems.

I will make a suggestion though and I know you are probably doing it - you don't remove the cable from the phone/usb port by yanking on the cord itself. You pull on the USB connector or the dock connector.

More than likely that's whats causing the problem.

Oh and bye :)

I agree with the OP on the cable separating!

I can clearly see how the quality has gone down since 2G phone.

I had all three 2g, 3g and 3gs. I had this issue for 3g and 3gs. I got those cables replaced for free at apple store. (Genius guy did whine about how he will not do this next time...)

I still have 2g phone and that cable still rocks even after 3 years!

Post was too long but yeah, the cable sucks. Mine has come undone at the joint as well. So much for Apple quality on that one - definitely poorly made.

Also, I don't know if it's a limitation of the technology or what but the cable is WAY too short. I could probably overlook that if the joint were reinforced and didn't expose the internal wiring!

I've never had any Apple cord separated.

One time though when I was playing football on the street my iPod Touch feel out of my pocket with the headphones connected and right next to it.

I realized about 2 hours later and ran back to find that the whole thing was run over.

My iPod was fine (screen in tact, everything 100% the same except for scratches on the edges), however the headphones were busted up extremely bad.

I went to the local Apple store and told them the story exactly as it happened.

NO receipt, NO proof. Just had to show them the iPod and they gave me a brand new pair on the spot free. I was in the store for LESS THAN A MINUTE.

I've NEVER had problems with a cable of theirs breaking before. BUT EVEN IF I DID, and EVEN if it was a once a month occurrence, I wouldn't give a DAMN if they just replaced it like that every time!

I barely read your outrageous post, unfortunately it's getting what u wanted and that's attention good or bad... However yes everyone knows the power cable is defected but it still works if it's torn... Litterally I just took my phone into apple cause it kept blowing my headphones (had 3 pairs and same prob everytime) they ended up giving me a brand new iPhone and earphones....

U know how good apple is and how their customer service is... It's a damn power cable... Glad too see you flip out over something so small that still worked regardless if the tear

Um, that's nice but some of us have better things to do with our time than going to the Apple Store every month to replace their poorly made cable.

By the way, easy does w/ the caffeine, sport.

Never had a problem with mine. Although I did have a cat that enjoyed them. Apparently they are quite tasty when high on catnip.
