pfft

just buy one from a cheap place, they r like £3 or you can buy a nice one from griffen, and if your iphone still has a warrenty cant you get a ne able because they r covered by the warrenty doesn't it?

Pay $30 for a replacement cable? Just bring them into the Apple Store along with your iPhone(if in warrantee) and walk out with a new and free cable.

I agree with the OP regarding the quality of the cable but every time even without showing my iPhone, I replaced my bad cable with a brand new one. I've done this 4 times so far. However, I must say that they need to change the design and/or quality of these cables. It is NOT a big reason for me to stop using iPhone. I do not know if the OP stopped using it since I did not read his post till the end, too long) :)

What the heck are you guys doing with these cables? Using them as shoelaces while your not charging/syncing? Jumping rope with them? I have several of these for home/car/office and never had any problem. I think some of you need to be a bit more careful with your stuff.

If you use it with your car charger (I have a separate one for home use which is fine), then they do not last long, trust me.

If the iPhone doesn't go to Verizon by November then I'll have to go with some sort of HTC device. I just can't deal with AT&T's service in Philadelphia anymore. What I'd never do is make a thread about it.

1- It's juvenile.

2- I'll miss my iPhone and will probably buy an iPad to replace it.

If your iPhone is in warranty, simply take it into the Apple store and they'll replace the cable free of charge with a new one.

If your Apple store is not local to you, then you can do the service/repair order online via the Apple warranty section.

No big deal.

But dude, there's no drama in that. Come on, now.

:p
These threads kill me.

Although I also find it not necessary to dislike Apple for the cable quality issue, I think OP has a point.

Yes, during the warranty period it is easy. They replace it with no question. However, after the warranty expires, you need to purchase it. I think one year is not long for a cable to go bad. Apple's brand name is too good to skip this detail.

Yes, you can purchase cables for a $1 which is the one I purchased for home use and also you can just wrap the ends with a tape but it still does not change the fact that Apple needs to make them more durable.

Speaking of cables. I was at Best Buy a couple days ago picking up my iPad and saw all 3 of the iPad's on display had frayed/torn cables. They were really messed up. Exposed wires and all. I know why, because they are heavily used/abused. Perhaps maybe they aren't as durable as they should be.

Was crazy. I love my iPad! :apple:

When/if you go to Genius Bar, have a look at all the USB cables they use. They are ALL wrapped with tape because ALL of them are frayed/torn.

A minor USB cable problem and you go off and write a book of dribble?

Yikes. Hate to see what happens if something really happened that affected you.

How are you guys destroying your cables?
I have yet to have anything close to that happen and been using them since FireWire iPods.

Yeah, they could seriously stand to make better cables. But, even if I had to replace my stupid cable every month, I still wouldn't get rid of my precious iPhone. (iPhone, I <3 you.) My iPhone is a very close second to my husband. I think. Maybe depending on the situation, if I had to choose, the iPhone might win. Yeah, he knows!

Anyway, I digress. Yeah, the cable sucks. I got one from Monoprice to supplement my OEM cable that has already been replaced once. NO, I am not hard on my stuff. It's just a piece of junk. However, the monoprice cable is 6 feet of sturdy awesomeness. Problem solved.
