This isn't a prejudice or a trolling or anything. I love my Macs, but honestly, why at coffee shops or small cafes or what not are there a majority of computer users Mac users? I mean I really don't have a good reasoning for why that is.

More arts based people visit there to use their computers? I think this has been brought up before but I just don't really get it.

It's hip and trendy to go out for a coffee with your Mac at the moment. That's why.

I think it is more that you look like a total plonker if you go for a coffee with a laptop and its battery runs out.

I guess it's been made impossible for a Mac to run out of charge since I last had one then.

I see plenty of PCs in Starbucks. Funny thing is, Macs are always being used wirelessly while PC laptops always seem to be plugged in. :D

I see this also ... the PC users actually swarm in to grab a wall socket when one leaves

Mac and coffee, trendy clothing = cool guy/gal

    Thats about it.

And everyone wants to be that 'cool guy!'

The best part is the glowing Apple logo on the back of the Macbook. It screams 'look at me'

People buy MacBooks in order to be accepted at cafes
This is why Apple is still selling computers

With a new MBP, I think you'd get thrown out for staying too long before the battery runs out :D

Not directed at you in particular, but is it any worse than bragging in your basement about your Level 256 Garden Gnome in WoW and blowing money on that kind of crap on a monthly basis?

At least these Mac users in cafes look like they've got a decent income stream and some disposable cash. Ya I'd rather be that "cool" guy with a Mac, thankyouverymuch. Some of us "cool" guys who can afford this gear also have well-paying jobs and can enjoy some of the finer things in life from time to time. It's a good thing.

Yes, that's what people do.

BTW, I take my MacBook, iPhone and iPad to Starbucks. I'm way cooler than everyone else and my penis is way bigger. :D

"You American have such BIG penis!"

Anyway, I think its a reciprocating thing with Macs at cafes. Since everyone sees Mac users at coffee shops then only more Mac users show up with their computers. I really do think its an image thing, cause I really wouldn't bother hanging out in a cafe much rather lugging my laptop.

I think its a mixture between people who want to seem trendy, and people who genuinely need to work, have a coffee and happen to have a Mac... Haha.

Yes, when I'm away and I use my MacBook Pro in a cafe or something I can get 3+ hours battery (so now power cable) and use the free wifi (no internet cable). However most of the 15" ****-heavy Windows laptops (which have batteries that only last an hour) are plugged in with... TWO cables

After seeing that my 13" MBP seems ultra-portable!

Actually, in the UK, you most likely find they are all students blowing their government grants and student loans on Apple products and expensive coffee. I work full time and have literally no time to take my Apple devices for a coffee, despite having a nice amount of my income that is disposable.

    it's simple...

once you buy a Toyota you'll notice everyone is driving a Toyota despite that there's probably 100s of other car brands around you. once you buy an iPhone you'll notice everyone has one even though dumb phones still have 2x the market share of smart phones.

that and coffee shops/cafes generally attract a specific demographic; basically you and people similar to you. odds are, if you go to an airport (off peak season) you'll probably see more ThinkPads or whatever hardware-du-jour business firms have contracts with.

Wow that's exactly what's happened to me-though of the people I see with Apple earphones out and about a fair number are using ipods (touch or nano or whatever).

Oh, that happens here, too. I do it, sans coffee shops and expensive coffee. I try to avoid those.

I think you notice more Macs at places like Starbucks because the MacBook Air, higher-end MacBooks and the MacBook Pro all now sport the very distinctive brushed aluminum case design with the Apple logo shown prominently. They're hard to miss. :)

Younger people buy Macs and also go to Starbucks to use them.

Older people are set in their ways and prefer to stay at home watching The View or Fox News.

    Stereotypes, I know.
