You have not used Calendar in IOS 6 extensively.

Besides telling people they are wrong and you are right; why don't you actually say why in the OP or even in your replies.

I understand the comment. Those who are light users of calendar may get on with ios 7. ios 6 was easy to look at a glance, had the preview pane, etc. ios 7 is harder to navigate and busy people have a dot every day so month view is pointless. Notification centre is a whole bunch of scrolling with no detail 'you have stuff on tomorrow' or whatever it says opposed to ios 6 which showed you with no scrolling, swiping or app switching what appointments you have upcoming. If you haven't used ios 6 calendar extensively then you probably require simple use out of calendar apps.

With the amount of threads going on here and other forums, the minimal calendar in form over function ios7 is an issue.

"Etc." is not an example of being specific.

No stock in app is powerful. Your best bet is to use a third party app if you want a good calendar.

The calendar stinks and here's why.

When you select a day it goes to that day and all I see is a 6 hour window. Before I could press the day and it would list my scheduled appointments at the bottom. I could see I had a lunch meeting and an 8pm call so instantly I could see where I was unavailable. That same task in iOS 7 requires me to have to scroll through the entire day to verify my appointments.

Now if we are ONLY talking about tomorrow, no big deal because I can pull up the list and see it or only have to scroll through one day. However if I want to quickly cycle through Monday Tuesday Wednesday this week next week and the week after it takes much longer and it is tedious. When I'm scheduling meetings with people I am instantly slower at responding for available dates.

You might like the new calendar because the changes do not affect you but it is not better than iOS 6. I'm not saying I want it the old one back, but I'm calling a spade a spade. It is worse and they will should do something about it.

To see the week view, why not just put the phone in landscape mode?

Week view is not month view. Also too much scrolling. Harder to plan.

I've posted so many responses on the calendar it seems it's all I do here and I'm posting on the iphone with this tiny keyboard. Bottom line is you can't argue with hoards of ios 7 calendar haters

What I miss is the list view. Otherwise I like the new calendar app fine. But to know the events of the day I have to scroll through the day hours. Its too easy to miss stuff.

There must be a pile of bug reports going back to beta 1 of ios 7 but they haven't listened yet. I agree though, we need to stand for apple to listen

I agree with this. I sent in more than one bug report for the beta iOS7 on Calendar problems. Obviously, they had no impact. Design is everything these days; functionality doesn't factor in.

Do you have any screenshots of this functionality in iOs 6 that you are talking about?

Sure, let me just revert back to iOS 6.... oh wait, I can't. :(
When you tapped on a day, it showed all the events for that day in a list below the calender, with the times next to them.

Too much scrolling? Are we serious? There's more in life to worry about than scrolling.

So we shouldn't make anything better because there's more in life to worry about? Why even be on a discussion forum about Apple? There's so much more going on in the world... Or is it just that Apple has messed things up for a great many people the planet over, that we can't discuss it and possible workarounds?

It is quite easy. Prior to updating to iOS 7, I was in the habit of making calender events at whatever time (by default, I believe it was the nearest hour to the current time), when only the day was important. Now, I don't know where they are within each day. They could be at any time.

So for every day, I have to scroll up to the top, then down to the bottom, just to check for these events. I'm worried I'll miss something rather important because I forgot to check the full 24 hours of that day.

Didn't that require scrolling too? It did for me. I find tapping the magnifying glass is a pretty good alternative. It's human nature to resist change. I wasn't too happy with the new cal at first but it isn't much different than the old one. Just a couple of habits to chg for me. No big deal.

Exactly...tap the magnifying glass and gives you a better list view with a single tap from any calendar view you are on.

The only complaint I hear over and over is the month view on the iPhone (note that the month view on the iPad is similar to the way it was on the iPhone on iOS 6).

It's quite obvious to me that Apple chose to do this on the iPhone because there was never enough room to see the full list or in most cases full single descriptions of single events due to the lack of space. The month view on the phone is now utilized to see what days occur on what days of the week and to quickly move to specific days of a month more quickly so they may be tapped to get to more detail.

I love the new calendar and I am a heavy user of it.

There are times I like the old way better. If you are searching for an opening on a Friday, you could just click on every friday and see what you have going on....possibly scroll if you had several events. Now you have to click the day, go back to the month view, click the day, go back to the month view, click the day, go back to the month view. You could click the magnifying glass, but if you don't have anything going on at all on a friday, it just won't be there so you have to be sure you aren't missing one. Also harder to keep track of how many weeks out you are looking at that way. Just more intuitive the old way.

I've never liked the day view as it doesn't show enough hours of the day IMO.

Also wish the dots could be color coded to the calendar that has an event that day.

We all remember this. I doubt Microsoft have even touched 1% of their collected error reports. What makes you think Apple will look at feedback from non-developers? Especially when Apple are in the opinion that they know what consumers want better than the consumers themselves.

"Big Softie" sucks on a good day. Guess that's one of the reasons they are in a tailspin and unlikely to pull up and recover.

Ballmer departure much too late to really matter.

Wait until that bigger screen on the iPhone comes..........I kid, I kid :)

The list view is still available isnt it by pressing the search icon and you get a long list of all appointments?

Tapping the Search icon on the top right will display the list of events. Very hard to find.

I use calendar a lot for personal and work use and this iOS 7 is fine.

If you struggle with a half second scroll to see where your appointment is then maybe a smartphone isnt for you.

Sure a list would be nice but tbh I would rather when you make an appointment in Calendar app it travels over to Reminders and you get a list there. Actually give that app an use. Then again id still fold that app and its functionality in to the Calendar app.

Oh dude you are awesome! Never thought to touch the search
me neither. this function violates a major tenet of development: users should be able to intuit/understand a function from the UI rather than external sources

but now that I have found this I don't intend to use anything else on the calendar. it should be the default. reminders is similar in that the default should be a scheduled list like this but you have to actually mess around with it to get it to display

Did the old calendar only let you set appointments in 5 minute intervals? I can't recall, but it seems like I'm doing more scrolling than before. Also, when I fling the wheel and put my finger down to stop it, it doesn't stop.

Double tab on the minute wheel, it will change from 1-minute to 5-minute intervals. I discovered this by accident :)

Also, in iOS6 you could tap on the time wheels above or under the current selection to quickly select the desired time. This works for the date wheel, but not for the time wheels. A bug I guess.

But for me the Calender app works fine.

i liked the month view from ios6 better. it allowed me to see my events while in month view. ios7 just shows you a dot

I also miss the day layout of the iOS 6 calendar. It was a treat especially in the taller screen of the iphone 5 because you could easily have a general idea of your day upon tapping the day. I'm not a fan of the way it works in iOS 7. I like the UI but I don't think it's as useful as the previous one.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about on the new calendar? It's definitely better than the iOS 6 version and is very nice UI wise.

Agree!!! UI is very nice. Layout with colors makes easier to work with the calendar. I did not find very convenient the 1-2 lines list in monthly view of IOS 6 calendar anyways. Much more useful now. Actually the new calendar is THE stock app that made me desire IOS 7 for all this time since the announcement.

Sure we can because there isn't a hoard.
