Wish they picked an image of him from his "prime" before he started getting so thin in his last few years

I would not say that it was his prime, but he was definitely looking good here compared to the end. And I think it is a respectful decision to represent him this way.

The dichotomy with Job’s health is that this is a man of extreme wealth and great intellect, yet he delayed medical intervention because he thought he was going to cure his cancer by not showering and drinking carrot juice.

Thinking about it some more, Woz did get the ball rolling for Apple. There would be no Apple without Woz. So he probably does deserve his own innovation coin for the first Apple computer, a cheap computer that any computer enthusiasts can use was a big innovation and did lead to everything we take for granted from Apple today. Woz could have started Apple with any other entrepreneur, but Jobs couldn't have started Apple without someone like Woz. Don't get me wrong, Jobs was instrumental to it all, Woz was destined to be just another comfortable engineer for HP, and Jobs was always destined to try some kind of big idea business, that's just the kind of guy he was.

I was in college studying computer engineering in the early 70s. I’ve got mad respect for Woz. But, it should be noted that at the time he invented the Apple I, there were others doing the same thing as hobbyists. Before the Apple I, there were kits like the Altair 8800 that inspired Woz, Jobs, Gates, and Allen. If we are going to talk about the person who got the ball rolling, there’s a better case to be made for it being Ed Roberts, inventor of the Altair 8800 and founder of MITS.

Woz could have become yet another hobbyist whose invention was lost in the annals of time without Jobs. As you correctly note, Woz would have been yet another comfortable engineer at HP. Jobs would have found someone else with a system at the Homebrew Computer Club and pushed that to become Apple.

Should go down in history as the man that destroyed the world and turned people into mindless scrolling zombies. There once was a time people talked to each other and found common ground now they just scream into the void. The iPhone and it's apps led to antisocial media and the poisoning of billions of minds. Addiction of anything has never led to anything good and this is just another example, leave your brick on the bench, where it belongs, with your fake puffy lips and go and experience life and the beauty of the world.

Let the void screaming begin and the irony of quoting thinking people who used their minds instead of referencing from a slab of glass.

Give Steve an international Apple currency instead - I'd love to buy my next Mac with it.

The collector in me wanted it as soon as I saw it.

I largely agree, but this shouldn't stop research and development into new devices that can help people. Almost anything can be used in a damaging way by people with bad intentions. The only hope now that pandoras box is open is education in media literacy.

I think it is interesting that we are celebrating these different personalities and innovators. I get it. But ultimately, how does this benefit the rest of Americans. It doesn't. I am more concerned with the politics of our nation than whether or not a coin or a stamp is going to be issued. It is a frustrating time.

Last note I promise. Sadly the research is already showing the IQ of the general public is universally lower. A fact the Republicans tapped into to elect a turnip for the vegetables but hey there is always ai to think for us. Till it doesn't need us. Adew mon amis.

Cool! And I can buy an egg with it!

🤣 No kidding. Here in Canada, a dozen quality eggs costs $8.00 or more now. A bag of chips, which has fewer chips inside, costs $5.00! Or $7.00 at convenience stores like 7-11. Seriously? Prices are doubling! Incomes are not.

The question is ... did Steve Jobs help to foster this economy that we're living in now? I love the guy like any other fan, but one must wonder if Apple's pursuit of fortune and fashionable design didn't help to create a wider gap in society-defined income classes.

On one hand, they make quality gear that lasts for years. On the other hand, the "need" for high-priced "stuff" has increased personal debt to new levels never seen before.

That one is from nickel and material worth $ 0.03. But will be sold for 99.99 😂😂

Except maybe it should be a $1 coin that is worth $1,050+ in 14 years.

When Cook took over, Apple's market cap was $350B. It's now more than $3.7 trillion. So if you want to put a monetary value on Cook, as you did, there it is.

EDIT: Corrected M to B

Fair, but at the very least I wish they represented Jobs as he looked for the majority of the time that he was the face of Apple. The image on the coin was definitely in the last 15-20% of his life and tenure.

For example, this is the day he introduced the iPhone:

Nah the older jobs is the jobs who returned and turned around Apple. The thinner jobs with turtle neck T-shirt and jeans is really iconic and how I remember him.
