I'm still far too busy playing Hades instead which launched as an iOS mobile exclusive this week as part of Netflix games.
Look, @The Don Onez you are more than welcome to disagree with a post. Its a free country. But how can you disagree with a personal statement? Are you secretly my partner spying on my forum habits? Do you know I've done more laundry than gaming this week? ;)

That because Mac platform sucks for gaming and it will never be solved.

Hardly… this game supports an extra mode for M1 iPads that provides 2K resolution with better textures. My experience on a base M2 is that games optimised for Mac run really well.

Unfortunately some people seem to think that unless you are operating at the bleeding edge of graphics card capability then you are not a serious gaming platform. I would have thought the popularity of mobile games on hardware that is understandably limited due to the size of devices, as well as consoles like the Nintendo Switch would have nudged some people out of this crazy dogma.

Try Resident Evil 4 or even something like Metro running on Rosetta2 to see what modern Macs actually can do. The hardware and software is more than capable to provide credible and fun AAA gaming.

I said the platform is terrible. What are you talking about? How many new games released in macOS in last 3 years? Only a few. Being capable has nothing to do with it.

Despite Apple making a porting kit, literally nobody wanted to port their games to Mac after all.

Considering these studios are still pouring money into these games, they must make their money back in some way.
I guess there's a public for that. Must be the same persons who never cared about learning how to use their phones to make a call other than holding it like a waffle.

It's a little bewildering how out of touch MacRumors community members are when it comes to the overwhelming popularity of mobile games. It's a market segment that generates nearly half of all revenue in the game industry and folks still assume it's some quirky little experiment that someone must be enjoying.

Just another copy of Cod mobile ridden with battle pass nonsense, immersion ruining skins and predatory MT. Not to mention it has nothing to do with Call of Duty. Dead brand.
Bro this is real deal Warzone. You log in with your Call of Duty account, progress is synchronized between mobile and console / PC. It features the fan-favorite map (Verdansk) and monetizes in quite literally the exact same way as Warzone proper with cosmetics and a battle pass. CoD is one of the most valuable / popular brands in the gaming space right now, and has been for, uh, decades?

Yay!!!!! This and COD mobile are the only games I play. Wish this work work on my Mac too :( Apple get your act together mo one wants to play flappy bird games this is the kind of game we want.

Yep pc and console are huge compared to mobile. Thanks for stating the obvious

If all the frameworks and API’s required are available to make it on iOS, it’s already there in macOS….

Your beef is with the developer.

Was watching Stodeh streaming this from an iPad over on Twitch / YT, its pretty amazing how good it is considering its mobile. Smart call on COD as the main map Verdansk is something their player base loved from time of COVID. Is it as good as the current PC / console version, no but considering where mobile was 5 years ago, its pretty amazing.

This along with playing the couple year old Resident Evil on my iPhone last year and it being quite playable - definitely seems we're at one of those tech tipping points. The console / PC gamer in me watches this warily as the potential player base on smartphones is so much bigger (Asia in particular) than consoles / PC's and after watching Apple assign the Mac to the B team for dev tech giving iOS priority years back I wonder if we'll see the same thing with the big game studios (guessing we still have another 5 years or so before that becomes a real risk).

Yeah honestly this is about a million times better than it has any business being but ultimately the experience is kind of frustrating for me because I really just want to be able to play Verdansk again on my PC.

Do you find yourself spending any money on COD Mobile?
The games I've mainly found myself playing is usually a tower defence game of some sort, Mario Kart Tour, Diablo Imortal, COD Mobile and I'll give this one a go. I try not spend too much if anything on the games. I've tried so many but these are the ones I keep coming back to.

Wish you could also load this up on Silicon Mac and AppleTV. Anyone figured out a way? I have an M1 iPad I’ll play this on, but if I could use the M2 Mac Mini I’d love to give that a try

No separation between touch screen players and controller players, literally makes the game unplayable .

I know that. If you read the end of my comment, you would see I said that obviously people are playing these games and shelling money into them, otherwise these games just wouldn't exist.

My point is that I don't know how people find them attractive and playable.
I tried, and just can't. FPS games, especially when competitive, are already difficult to handle with a controller compare to a mouse/keyboard, but using touch controls is just a terrible experience - that Apple made the default and a mandatory feature (I may be wrong but I think this is still the case).

I used the Xbox Cloud App / Gamepass for a few months to stream play all kinds of games. I also tried remote play with the PS App. And of course native games as well. All of them with touch, with a PS controller, or with a Backbone.

Technically, it works.
For me, none of these experiences were satisfying enough.
Worse, every time I thought this might actually work and I started to enjoy it, iOS threw a stick in my bicycle, and I crashed pitifully: sudden OS notifications (battery, heat, airpods popping up for no reasons, ...), screen rotation, sound stopping to work, connection switching from wifi to cellular for no reason, all kinds of annoyances that are usually not that harmful, but in the context of gaming they are just a showstopper.

The graph you're showing is talking about ALL mobile gaming categories. I'm sure there a tons of whales ready to spend their last nickel into gatchas, but I'm specifically talking about FPS games like COD.

Interestingly, my kids only used to play Fortnite and Roblox on their phone/iPad and not console because of one unique reason : they all had an iOS device, but none had the same console (PC, PS/Xbox, Switch...). All the while complaining the experience was a nightmare and so buggy that it almost became part of the fun.

Put that in the context of the current scrutiny by lawmakers and the whole monopoly situation.
Food for thought.

I have not spent any on the cod mobile. if I had this in my Mac I’d consider battlepass just not paying for a game on my phone.

17:00 buddy!
Well it's past 1700 now. Since the game was never available to pre-register in the Netherlands, and the Netherlands was in the list of exclusions of the rewards for pre-registration, looks like it won't launch in NL for the time being. URL

Edit: apparently it has something to do with loot boxes being illegal in NL.
