Your numbers are counting silly kiddy games with little play value like flappy bird and son on. Steam has less games for Mac then they did 5 years ago especially since Apple silicon. Battle.net is all but giving up on Mac. there are even fewer AAA GAMES now then there was 5-10 yeas ago. COD, Counterstrike and many more. Your reality is distorted by your statistics.
Again let’s talk about real numbers instead of ”distorted reality”. The subjects you mention weren’t the points of my discussion and don’t change the facts. There aren’t only a few Mac games released in the past three years but over 16,000, Apple Silicon and Metal 3 hasn’t made gaming worse but better and Mac is not a terrible gaming platform.
The number of ”silly kiddy games”, junk games and failed releases is far larger on Windows than on Mac so the same can be said about PC games. I don’t think I have to mention all the disappointing and failed PC releases even from famous developers and publishers in the past few years. Steam doesn’t have fewer Mac games than five years ago. There were over 23,000 Mac games released during the past five years and there are almost 45,000 Mac games on Steam. Do you have a source for your claim?
Battle.net has still a few Mac titles but we all know that they left Mac several years ago before Apple Silicon. Mac gaming doesn’t stand and fall with Battle.net though. Still three new WoW expansions are coming to Mac: WoW: The War Within, Wow: Midnight and WoW: The Last Titan.
Many games are now about microtransactions and for that reason not on Mac. That’s why games like Diablo Immortal or the new CoD Warzone are on iPhone. There are also alternatives to such games. Instead of Diablo 4 the much better Path of Exile 2 is coming to Mac. Instead of CoD/CS2 there are Arma 3 and Combat Master to mention a few. CS2 had only around 10,000 Mac players so it wasn’t so popular and won’t be missed. Just like people haven’t missed Fortnite. Also take a look at all the negative reviews of the latest CoD titles on Steam.
We may have lost some devs and games but we’ve also gained many new ones for the first time on Apple Silicon such as Capcom with Resident Evil 4 and Village, Kojima Productions with Death Stranding, NEOWIZ with Lies of P, Hello Games with No Man’s Sky, Sports Interactive with Football Manager 2024, Bloober Team with Layers of Fear/The Medium, Fallen Leaf with Fort Solis, BlueTweleve Studio with Stray, Piranha Bytes with ELEX II, Saber Interactive with Snowrunner, SGRA Studio with Dragonheir: Silent Gods, Rockfish Games with Everspace 2, BlackMill Games with Isonzo, Feral/Sega/Codemasters with Toal War: Pharaoh/Grid Legends, 4A with Metro Exodus, Larian Studios with Baldur’s Gate 3 or Nimble Giant with Star Trek Infinite, not to mention all the indie devs/games.
Neither are there fewer AAA games now than 5-10 years ago. Here are som lists of the recommended games from 2014 and 2019 and you can’t find more AAA games then compared to now. I’m aware of the downsides and shortcomings of Mac gaming but again you can distort the reality easily without actual facts.
