The West Coast is still about 6 hours away from the start of sales. If this thread is to be genuinely useful for determining what the demand is, we should focus on the East Coast for now, where the start of sales is just under 3 hours away.

Best Buy, 23rd street in NYC. They formed a line inside, and forgot to tell me... I am 5th in line now. They said I can still get whatever model I wish with my spot in line. People joining the line at a rate of about 1-2 every 5 minutes.

Just got in line at the Apple store in Cherry Hill, NJ. The line isn't too bad, I would say about 30 people at this point. An Apple employee just came by and did advise the people waiting that if the line gets to a point where there isn't enough available they will notify people toward the end of the line and he also did say that they will open and setup the iPad for everyone (I'm not sure if this is mandatory or not).
