This is contest of the post processing software, not hardware.

Shoot some raw photos, and learn to do post processing yourself. Software that processes these photos is not the best for everything, it can make some scenes look awesome, while some can look bad, which might not be the hardware's fault. (the only exception is Google Camera, which is unique to Pixel phones).
the thought of you telling millions of casual people, elderly and young, to learn to do post processing in order to make their photos look good is hilarious.

Then Apple should charge you less for “old” technology. This is what $1000 gets you when you buy the “best” phone available from each manufacturer.

Personally I have never put any importance towards a smartphone camera other than quick convenient means of capturing something for reference and as long as it can do that, job done. The rest is a waste of money and I never consider the camera in my phone choice.
Personally, the camera for me is a most important feature. As an advanced photo-hobbyist I’m finding that my iPhone reasonably replaces my Nikon D-7000 often. Besides being amazingly compact and light, it’s ability to do close ups and low light photography shines for most purposes (no - 11x17 enlargements won’t work). Multiply me by the tens (or hundreds?) of thousands of others who love photography and you may understand the focus on this feature.

Although I do like the iPhone photos better, the selfie picture on the Samsung has one feature that I haven't seen on any other phone, the image is finally not inverted. Look at the letters of the North Face jacket, on the Samsung one you can read them straight and on the iPhone it is inverted. I have never understood how Apple has never solved this huge defect on selfies.

I may have misread this, but I believe all 'A' photos are the XS Max, which would make the Samsung inverted in the selfie photo.

I respect your opinion and why it is important to you, however, multiply me by tens or hundreds of thousands who also love photography, but wouldn’t choose a smartphone to enjoy it.

If anybody really thinks that A is better in pics 1,3 and 4... Please go see an eye doctor! There might be something severely wrong with your eyes!

If apple would include under the screen fingerprint reader in the 2019 iPhones would probably upgrade my XS MAX to one with TouchID.

They won’t. There’s nothing indicating that they will include a finger print reader under the display, Face ID will be the selected category moving forward for years, and now that it has expanded into the iPad line, the same will likely apply to the Mac eventually.

Whereas that might be true, i still hope they will include it once the technology has reached a high level of maturity. FaceID has shortcomings, and it has annoyed me quite a few times, which TouchID never has. I don't think I am the only one who would prefer 2 technologies for authentication (besides the obvious pin..).

Think that remains to be seen. Samsung is notorious for blowing out highlight and inaccurate color rendition. More or less zoom may not change that. But the proof is still in the pudding.
Lol, if you are going to use years old sayings, for the love of god, please get them right!!!

The proof of the pudding is in the eating!!

Fact!!!!!

The only reason for me replacing my iPhone every year is for the updated camera tech. Everything else can wait 3 years. Maybe I'll save money not buying a new phone every year.

I’m considering;

The GR3 (or x100F) is looking good for the things the smartphone misses out on.
  • one handed operation (not x100F)
  • low light performance (indoor with no flash allowed)
  • better resolution photos
  • no distraction shooting (messages,calls,alerts)
  • better controls
  • pocket-able (not really the x100f)
Anyways, horses for courses.

No it isn't. iOS allows no multitasking and no customisation. Once you've spent any decent amount time with Android you realise how pathetically outdated iOS is with it's grid of icons interface.

FTFY

iOS allow no multi-tasking? Looks like someone never used an iphone or doesn't even understand the word "multi-tasking".

I personal phone is HTC U12+, and I actually find android ecosystem and apps are much more inferior than the one from iOS in general.
Haven't found a single equivalent app that does better on Android than iOS.

Customization....? I did changed my launcher from Sense to Pixel Launcher...but what else I can do on android but not iOS?

-----------

Since this thread is about Photo, which is something I enjoy a lot. HTC U12+ manual mode pretty much crushed all these. The big downside is point and shoot, which is what most people do, and it just plain awful.
Judging by the photo, XS does have overall better contrast and color accuracy. S10 seems to be a little overblown in both.

You mean "split screen"...... Why in the world I want to do a split screen when I am using a phone.
Hence why it's available for iPad, but not on iPhone...

I haven't even use this feature once on my phone, since it cut the screen way too much to make it useful. You do realize App can still run in the background on iOS? Plenty of App does it, it's up to the developer and OS control. Unlike Android allow background service constantly and drain your battery or constant sending tracking data back to facebook.....

How is RAM helping when you still have constant reset on apps? Makes no difference to user experience.

Widget, don't even get me started.... It used to be useful, but lately most widgets are either broken or the UI just stop updating after awhile. Not many developer even bother making widget anymore because the usage is way too low.

FYI, most phone these days including Pixel doesn't have audio jack anymore...

How is the A12's speed helping iPhones when they are still bottlenecked by their low RAM and poor modem?

Why not on iPhone? Seems an arbitrary limitation that a plus size phone isn't supported but a mini iPad is?

Anyway my screenshot is from my phone, and the adjustable split means there's plenty of room for a second app with a widescreen video playing at the top of the screen.

What's the use in a YouTube video running in the background if you want to actually see it?

Split screen and faster loading of apps IS a better user experience. Even if you don't want to use it personally how can you think not having the option is better than having it?

Strange how Apple allows background apps for useful purposes but Android only allows background apps for stealing information. No bias there.

Would you mind quoting links for this FUD Info otherwise we are gonna assume you are passing off personal opinion as FACT !!!!

It depends, sometimes I only want to listen to the audio of the YouTube video not the video. However Apple need to just enable split screen apps at least on the max. There are lots of times that I want to watch a video and browse the net at the same time.

I'm just not into Samsung phones. I just can't get behind them. For me, I preferred the iPhone. I still think my Google Pixel 3 shoots the best photos. I like using my iPhone X more though.
