Mom wasn't home yesterday so I cooked this for my self.

Used camera+

I can understand them wanting a bit more money, but after being completely silent for 4 months, it's poor form to not throw their existing user base a bone...

Guess it's all about perspective. With a New Features list that has 52 items listed, I'd say they threw us a rather large bone.

I'm just saying it would've looked really good if they didn't ask for any cash on this update. Ask for cash in another month; people would complain less then. They'd still complain though. :)

Well I not only didn't complain, I bought the pack. I like the product and was happy to get a few new filters. But that's just me. :)

Haven't been here in a while. Is it worth it to upgrade to the new camera+ but at the same time lose the volume button picture taking feature? Opinions?

First one was actually taken with a 3G, and the third one was taken with the front facing camera. Everything was edited with Camera+, which is quickly becoming my favorite app.

An end-all, be-all camera app?

I'm trying to find one camera app to rule them all. Currently on my wish list:

Adjustments:
Photogene
PixelMagic

Filters:
Filterstorm
Color Splash
TiltShift Generator
ShakeItPhoto
Pic Grunger
CameraBag

I currently own Camera+ and PS Express. Is there an app for normal adjustments, that also have filters like the six on my filters wish list? Ideally, such an app would be universal, or at least offer an iPhone and iPad version. It gets to be a little bit of a pain saving and going into and out of several apps.

I've spent a bit of time browsing around the forums, MRoogling, and searching through the App Store (both through iTunes and AppShopper,) and I haven't found anything like what I'm looking for.

I still think the stock camera.app starts up the fastest and is the easiest to use. None of the other camera apps like ProCamera or Camera + take any better pictures IMO. They can claim all sorts of exposure and white balance features, but I've yet to see a noticeable difference.

I do use those apps to make adjustments to pictures after I've taken them. And that's invaluable. But for me, the camera.app remains on the front page...all the others in a "photo" folder.

Same boat. I use the stock camera app, it's simple and unobtrusive. (Occasionally I use Pro HDR or Pano, but only in limited and specific circumstances.) I'm just looking for a go-to editing app. Came across Photo FX last night, which may be closer to what I'm after.

- ProCamera and the stock camera app start up in the same amount of time on my iPhone4.
- The stock camera app is indeed easier, but that is just because it is more limited, so that's normal.

- After switching from stock to ProCamera I have no more pink hue in the biggest part of my photos, thanks to the possibility to change the white balance and exposure.
- Before taking a picture you can change these settings and see the changes on the screen immediately. For example, if I open the app and point the camera to whatever I want to photograph but it is too dark, I move the yellow box around and can get a clean light picture. The stock camera app doesn't do this... You really have to aim the lens a hair to the left/right/top/bottom to have the stock app change these things, whereas ProCamera allows you to just 'point and click' to adjust.

All of this +
- built-in 'studio': add effects and whatever to your photos (somewhat 'limited' but a very good base)
- anti-shake mode: take pictures when the camera is still, so without movement
- grid guides and virtual horizon: to take pictures that are straight and horizontal

All really good features that actually help, for me anyway.

But for me, the camera.app remains on the front page...all the others in a "photo" folder.
I have a similar setup. All apps are on the front page but I have ProCamera as the standard app with all other photo apps in a folder right next to it for easy acces. :D

I have tried and used a couple of apps now: stock camera app, Pro HDR, CP Pro, Pano, AutoStitch, PS Express, ColorSplash, Photogene and ProCamera.

The stock camera app can produce nice photos as well, but HDR mode doesn't perform well for me.
Pro HDR is only good in manual mode, in my opinion, the auto mode produces some weird things sometimes.
CP Pro (Camera Plus Pro) and ProCamera kind of overlap, but I absolutely love ProCamera because of the reasons mentioned above.
Pano vs AutoStitch is difficult... Pano really helps you take the pictures and then makes them into a panorama, whilst AutoStitch doesn't allow you to take pictures but can transform anything in your photo folder into a panorama (Pano doesn't do this).

So my experience:
- For taking pictures: ProCamera produces the best photos
- For panorama's: I prefer Pano over AutoStitch, but not by much, each has advantages
- For editing: depends on what you want to do, I kind of use them all but Photogene gets used least.

But! I have to say my favorite photo I have taken with my iPhone4 so far was taken with the stock camera app without HDR. So when you do get everything to line up perfectly, the stock app sure can deliver.

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to share my experience and opinion to those of you looking for a new or an extra app. I have been looking and comparing a lot myself and it's not easy sometimes, so hopefully this helps.

Very cool photography app I just came across with 100 great filters called "100 Cameras in 1" by Trey Ratcliff of stuckincustoms.com.

Also used "Tilt Sift Generator" on the first one and "Photogene" for the frames.

Hipstamatic > Camera+ > Pic Grunger

Not sure which of these two I thought worked better, so I had posted them both to Flickr, but in both cases, it was all about creating "texture":
