Not sure I understand this, considering it's unclear when the iDevice(s) will be available for sale. Does that mean they will wait an additional 2 weeks if the 9th is only an announcement and drop date is 2-weeks out?

Hope NYC gets a lot of rain for the next couple weeks. It's bad enough that they're waiting 16 days in the street, but they probably don't have jobs either. Madness.

They do this for publicity. Hoping to be on TV news or MacRumors! Obviously this guy wants to set a record.

Brian Ceballo and Joseph Cruz, representing BuyBackWorld, arrived on Sunday, August 31 with the hope of beating a previous record for camping out for an iPhone. They plan to wait for 19 days, a day longer than the 18 day record.

Ceballo and Cruz have already profited, accepting $1,250 to give up the first place in line to Jason and Moon Ray, who are promoting a health app.

Unless they're homeless I wouldn't call waiting in line for 19 days to get $1,250 "profiting."

This is awful for all of us who bought the iPhone 5 on Sept. 21, 2012 and are on a two-year contract.

AT&T has already marked my line eligible for an upgrade, so I should be able to pre-order the 6 and receive it on the 19th. I love Apple's iPhone release cycle... Sept. 21 is my birthday, so it was a doubly special day two years ago...

Professional line sitters = literally getting paid to sit on your a$$.

Obviously a publicity stunt to garner attention, but geez, two weeks is a bit extreme. The guy all the way to the left under the umbrella already looks like a bum they picked up and cleaned up a bit. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

I should pass by the store and give them change.

These peeps are way behind. I've been in line for the iPhone 7 since March 2013.

Okay, this is beyond absurd to me. I don't want to wait in line at all for any product, let alone weeks for a phone.

I'll just let FedEx deliver one to me instead.

Half of them end up in E-bay for triple the price, the unlocked ones. So a week's worth of waiting and 1400 - 2000 dollars? Not bad if you are a hawker. There is an international market for it immediately after release.

The other half that want it for themselves? I have no words to describe them.

People are stupid. No reason to do this at all.

These people are beyond stupid. I love everyone here assuming it's going to be available that quickly. I hope it's more towards the end of September now, just after seeing these bone heads.

There's isn't even a release date. Lol... Remember that one year "I think it was the iPhone 4" when you pre-ordered you actually got the phone 1 day before the stores did? That year that one kid camped for two weeks outside and got it a day later. LOL

No, they are not lining up for an iPhone. They are lining up for attention.

Agreed. People do this now just to get on the news. They aren't THAT stupid.... wait are they? =X

I mean, I would only do this if it saved me time and money. Working 5 days makes me more money AND gives me lots of time to do other things.

Must be nice to not have a job…or if they do somehow hold a steady job, do they have a proxy stand in for them when they have to go to work? (smh)
