I guess what many people fail to see that this isn't about the iPhone at all. It's about the experience. The iPhone is just an excuse to do it. Just like new year's eve is an excuse to gather and drink. Or sports events. There are many things like that, we just don't see it because we got so used to it. I don't mind this, I guess it might even be a fun experience, I really don't know.

At least the first two guys will get 1,250.00 for giving up their first place. I guess it isn't a total loss...for those two

Not about the experience at all. If you watched the video, they are promoting their company/brand. It's definitely for the attention. Had they camped out for a different company release, it wouldn't even be news worthy.

Seems like everyone read the article.

Yea. It might actually be some kind of test Macrumors is doing. Everyone who posts something like "They have no lives" or "Why do stupid people do this?" should get their accounts suspended, and the average IQ in the forums will immediately go up by 20%.

Makes sense if they are doing this for their companies or whatever. But regular people??
I camped out for an xbox 360 back in 2005.. I was young (16) and would never camp out for anything again. That was only overnight, but this is crazy.

Lol at all the posters commenting about how idiotic this is and wondering why people would wait just to get a phone....

READ. THE. STORY.

These people are there for publicity. Sure, they want the phone - but they'll sit there and wait in line so the cameras and reporters who invariably want to interview the nutjobs waiting for almost three weeks come to them.

Some are there because they are being paid to be as well.

Yup - MacRumors posters have the collective reading comprehension of a kindergartner.

Perfect - so devious MR. So devious.

That girl/her company must be extremely wealthy to drop 2500 for 3 spots ahead of the line just to promote an app.

I can imagine Samsung making a TV commercial about them. Commenting on how silly they are for waiting in line for days, when Samsungs new smartphone can double as a TV remote!

I just can't believe they are doing this without even knowing when it's actually going to hit the shelves.

19 days of my time is worth more than $1,250, but for unemployed or people working at minimum wage this isn't really a terrible waste of their time. haha

They are were already getting their food paid for and free iphones from the company they are promoting, so add around another $2000 plus, AND they get to lounge around and read and whatever for a little talking time on camera.

I love how little worker drones like you think having a job makes you superior to those that are "unemployed". Many "unemployed" are actually self-employed and many of them you would over the year actually end up making more than you and writing a lot of expenses off as tax deductions. LOL.

Ceballo and Cruz have already profited, accepting $1,250 to give up the first place in line to Jason and Moon Ray, who are promoting a health app.

The problem with this logic is that they didn't just sell being first in line, they profited from moving everyone behind them one further spot back. Could these dudes, because they are in first, sell 500 people the opportunity to stand in front of them?

Sounds to me like a mutiny in the works... going to be an awkward 7 days.
