I was just reading through the rules. It says: If someone is "Banned" or "In Time-Out" it means they broke forum rules. The severity, frequency, or circumstances determine which type of ban it is

So am i right, if i summarize the severity as:

1)No emoticons.
2) banned from posting
3) banned from logging in
4) combination of the above

and that's it?

Edit: I think i misunderstood the sentence above.. "it is" meant the type of ban in relation to if it is a permanent ban or a time out. So severity refers to the member action...I think i just need to go to sleep!

I've had a few posts deleted as my British humour sometimes upsets uptight Yankees who then complain about my posts. Brit mods aren't bothered, but if a USA mod then looks at my posts, it's goodbye.

I've reported Q once or twice for breaking his own rules in some far fairyland that I can't mention here, and Arn once - for something incredibly minor, but I couldn't resist the temptation :D

I do remember that Arn has been modded a couple of times, for double-posting IIRC.

As Q said, the only person that can't be sacked is Arn (and probably the coders of the site) since I'd imagine they all have direct access to the site. While you could ban them, they could just wipe the whole site I'd imagine.

A time-out and a ban I believe have the same privileges. The only real difference is you can come back from a time-out. A ban, rarely so. Once you are back from a time-out nothing changes for you permissions wise. During your time-out I believe you are presented with a screen noting why you are in time-out and a bunch of standard text regarding time-outs. I'm not sure if you can do PM's and such.

Sometimes we delete posts that don't violate the rules because they are responses to posts that did violate the rules or make no sense without the post that violated the rules. Just because we delete your post doesn't mean you're in trouble.

If you ever want to know why a post of yours was deleted you can use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and point us in the general vicinity of the post. We might not respond immediately because of other things going on but you should get a response in 48 hours or so. Sometimes we have to wait till whomever removed the post gets back on, then they have to remember why they removed it, sometimes we discuss if it should be brought back, blah blah blah all very boring stuff. We sometimes even restore posts if warranted. While we try to do our best, we are human (well the others are, I'm panda through and through) and make mistakes. I know sometimes I go to click my delete post button and it says "Are you sure you want to delete those 15 posts?" and I think "wut?!" Okay it's usually not that extreme but you get the gist.

Friends don't let friends mod sleepy. :D

And yeah I've been modded, before and after becoming a mod. Never had a time-out though because I'm always innocent. >.> <.<

The no emoticons was a jab at your excessive use of emoticons in your signature, it's not actually part of a time out.

Anyway:

I've only got one warning and it was for telling a newb to search the forum. That really amazes me because I'm fairly confrontational, very rude and often go for the jugular. Yet I have yet to even be put in time out.

Here's a clue what happens:

Demis [getting banned] though, burn in hell for all eternity, their keyboards always sticking, their screens forever filled with stuck pixels, chained to a Kaypro, tethered perpetually to a Hayes 300-baud modem. If you are very quiet at night, you can hear them screaming…

It's not a pretty thing when a Demi gets banned. The site shuts down for two passings of the sun, and all posts are bordered in black in mourning.
