Hi folks,

Does anybody know if Apple can still replace the battery in a mid-2011 15" Macbook Pro?

Given the news today that the company will stop replacing older 2012/2013 models with newer machines (in favor of replacing the batteries instead) I wanted to try and figure out where I stand with my 6-year-old laptop...

My battery barely lasts 2 hours these days, so I'm looking into what options I have.

EDIT: I just realised that my machine is now technically vintage, which means that Apple no longer supports repairs: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201624

Any suggestions regarding my options (apart from dropping $2500-$3000 on a new MBP) would be appreciated.

$99 for the battery.

Or have a local shop do it.

Just checked the prices to make sure they are still the same as what I quoted (thinking they would be less. Man, the same drive is now $160 and the memory is $120! Obviously something is going on with flash memory prices.
It is the crypto miners building big farms to mine for bitcoins. They have also driven up the price of graphics cards.
