Can I stop using 'broadcast SSID' and MAC addresses? Really?

Looking at a doc on the Apple site it seems that I don't need to hide my SSID or use MAC addressing anymore.

Is that correct/advisable?

I'm about to set up a new router, but will need to use WPA2 security due to the age of my attached kit.

Does Apple's advice still apply, or are they really talking about a complete WPA3 network (Devices and router setting).

Yes. That's the article (via the 'I' link on my iPhone's connection.

It's just that I've always assumed MAC address control and hiding SSID were good, valid ways to secure my network. I know they were never 100% secure.

I presume things have moved on and I Can just rely on a very good access password up to the 63 character limit.......

Neither hiding the SSID nor MAC filtering is really helping tbh. Any halfway skilled adversary knows how to deal with that.
