You seem upset.

No I am just looking back at the history or Apple updates.

What do YOU think they are going to do? It is my opinion, I am SURE you have yours!

Night asking you to explain your thinking behind something didn't seem "upset" to me. But I could be wrong

Ghost is right. I'm not upset, just asking for an explanation of the reasoning.

And it's funny how we can look at the same evidence -- history of Apple updates -- and come to quite different conclusions. Well, no, I do agree that Apple tends to make incremental updates, but to me, that's a good thing. I think iOS 9 is already at a point where it's almost powerful and feature rich enough to make it a PC replacement for a majority of users, and the next incremental update could push it over the line.

In my opinion, if there are a 100 things you can do on a PC, currently at least 50 of those things can also be done on iOS. Of the remaining 50, about 25 are due to apps not being equivalent to their desktop counterparts. Here, Apple needs to get on board too. The iWorks apps, for instance, don't have feature parity with their desktop versions yet.

But basically, with the 12.9 iPP, we finally have enough screen real estate where it makes sense to do complex coding on it. For instance, I'm attaching a screen cap of an ePub editor interface. I'd never want that on a 9.7 device, but on 12.9, it would work. Mainly, I'm hoping app developers would start writing apps like this for the iPad. And that Apple would do something with iOS 10 to push them in this direction.

Yes. Anything you have to say to night can now be directed at me. I'm representing him in this case, as he was obviously getting upset in his conversations with you

Yes, I am now naming you my official spokesperson on MacRumors. But please remember to refer to me as "she." ;)

Great, then you both have something in common.
Didn't I tell you to address me if you had something to say? Geez...Here you go minutes after being told going all renegade on us.

i will need to replace my Air soon. Will an iPad Pro do everything my air does? Could I be completely without a laptop?????
I'm still under the belief that an iPad is a content consumption device and a laptop is a content creation device. The iPad does a fantastic job at presenting material whereas a laptop excels at creating stuff.

Example:
I would never want to write a 500 page essay or book on an iPad.
I prefer to read a 500 page essay or book on an iPad.

Sure, there is crossover, but I try to pick the best tool for the job.

What I have noticed over the last few days is that when I reply to work email on the iPad I can't change the font colour in my reply.

What I usually say is " below are my comments in red". I don't see how I can do this on an iPad???

Some high school kids type their essays/reports/assignments on their iPod Touches. When they grow up laptops will be a cumbersome/bulky thing that gets hot and makes their hands sweaty. Switching between apps, importing certain images/texts between apps, etc. (ie. multi-tasking) are a hassle on touchscreen... well, for us. But who knows... When these kids grow up, they might be able to work faster on touch screens than we do on computers with mouse.

Replacing laptop with a tablet STILL requires effort on the user's part. No one who is used to work on computers will naturally adopt to tablet. I tried to live with my tablet. I tried to do everything on it. But it was difficult. At the end, using tablet didn't make my life any more easier or productive. Granted, tablets do certain things better than laptops, but not everything.

Android tablets seem to have an edge when it comes to replacing laptops. Can I rip a never-released foreign movie off of YouTube, and then download subtitle to watch it on an iPad? No... Can I organize files project by project by creating new folders? No.... Can I download guitar tabs and play/edit them? No.... Apple's "ecosystem" (the way Apple tells us how we should use the devices Apple's way) has both advantages and disadvantages. But for the general population (ie. average Windows users), such ecosystem is not something they are willing to work around. But I'm sure iPad will get there. Apple probably will want these kids to spend $600 on shiny iPads.

Other than that, for leisurely activities like browsing, streaming, scheduling, sharing pictures, etc. iPads are more than enough for such tasks. As bonuses, iPads have cameras and cellular data connectivity. Try taking pictures on laptops, and instantly sharing on Facebook while outside.

Actually, you can. I believe there are apps that can download YouTube videos, but I just use a site like KeepVid to get a link. I then paste the link to GoodReader to download. I also find subtitles from the web, and they usually just download in Safari, but they are often in zip files, so I again send it to GoodReader to unzip. From there, I open them in a media player app, rename video and subtitle so the file names match, and the media player plays the video with the subtitle.

Great. And where do you keep all these videos? Because even with 256GB of space, there's only so many videos you can download...

That sounds complicated, but hey, at least it's possible to do it!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are unzip apps on App Store, no?

Yes, there are. I just never had the need to get one, because I have apps like GoodReader and FileBrowser that have that function built in.

As Ghost responded, there are ways.

I don't pretend that doing things on an iPad is always as smooth as on desktops/laptops, but you can accomplish a lot more from the iPad than many people think, even if the methods are somewhat convoluted.

Yes you can, but you should not. Fortunately the system makes stealing a little bit more difficult than just a simple download.
Can I organize files project by project by creating new folders?
Again, yes. http://www.apple.com/icloud/icloud-drive/
Can I download guitar tabs and play/edit them?
Sadly, I know little of music and have no idea what tabs even are. I cannot help you with this one.

Great! And how do I use my iPad to put movies on that external hard drive?

I use a wireless RAPower FileHub that you can attach a USB HDD to that is visible to the RAVPower app but even better, to FileBrowser. I use a 2TB portable HDD for storing and playing mp4s on my Air 2.
