Apple really needs to address this problem. I've had it with Apple. I'm not buying another MBP until they get BR, matte screens, and insect repellent modules inside the casing.

Personally I've never had ants, but I have found the occasional worm in my Apple.

I don't know what to believe more the original poster asking this question or the people taking the thread seriously. WOWW where are the mods on this forum locking this bs up??!?!!

Well, it's got me wondering now.

How many ants would it take to move a MBP?

Phil

Just worked it out.

To lift a 2.5kg (15" uMBP).

It would take 27,777,778 ants. And that's judged on the averge ant weighing 3mg, and being able to lift 90mg each as that is the average.

Personally, I would run if I saw that many ant heading towards my MBP. LOL

Who's taking it seriously? Lighten up man, have a little fun. This is the internet, after all.

Well naturally the next question then is based on the size of the average ant, how many ants could actually fit under a MBP?

Likely you aren't in a part of the country getting invaded by the imported species of ants that are attracted to electric fields.

Now I cba working that one out. LOL. They can climb on top of eachother. That should work xD

That won't work cuz no matter how much weight the ants on top carry, they're only adding to the burden of the ants on bottom, not lessening it.

Unless, that is, you're imagining some sort of ant pyramid, with a wider base to accommodate more weight. But then the ants on top would still have to hold the entire MBP, and if they could, the whole pyramid would be unnecessary.

Lollll. I'm not going to get into an arguement over the lifting powers of ants xD

Well assuming that the clearance under a MBP sitting flush on a desk is 2mm, and the depth x width measurements are 242mm x 356 mm that gives the volume under a 15" MBP at ~ 242 x 356 x 2 = 172304 square millimetres.

If we take the standardized EU sized ant of 4 square millimetres then we can fit 172304/4 = 43076 ants under our MBP.

How many did you see anyway??

Get attracting dem ants...

Standard EU ant:

Hm...what about something like army ants? They're stronger, aren't they? Maybe you could fit enough of those under the MBP to carry it. I'm kinda disappointed in our findings so far.

Whoah, whoah. This is a serious post. No room for jest in here.
Do you know how big army ants are? Huge! You couldn't fit even one under a MBP.... (shakes head) :p

Yes MBP attracts Ants

Cos the MBP produces ultrasonic waves which are same frequency as the Ants mating call.
so Ants think their mates are calling them.

Let me tell you, this is actually true.
I live in Los Angeles, and in the summer, the little Argentine ants come out like sailors at the Bunny Ranch*.

And just last week, I wake up, grabbed some coffee, go to check my email, and - WTF? - ANTS! Watching porn! On my MBP! And doing ungodly, disgusting things to themselves!
There was this awkward silence when I discovered them for a few seconds, then they scattered away.

I think they were more embarrassed than anything.

*apologies to any sailors that read this.

:D I love the direction this thread is going!

Well what kind of ants are they? European or African?
I'm pretty sure we could find some African or South American ants strong enough to steal a MBP or at least a MBA!

yeah definitely not European ants. That's my point, they just wouldn't be strong enough... It's a simple question of weight ratios!

I am pretty sure in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids that excessively large ant jacked that one fools Macbook Pro...
