Ants can do serious damage to electronics. We've had them build a colony in the telephone box outside. Those little bugs took down the whole neighborhood's telephone system.

Apparently the acid in their saliva is bad stuff.

YES!!

Wow.....
I dont even know what to say.

I have the exact same problem, not even joking.

I've never had an "ant problem" with any other computer. My wifes macbook is the same way, it seems to draw ants to it.

I almost made a similar post weeks ago, but didn't because logically it didn't make sense.

Still doesn't but at least I know Im not completely nuts, and if I am at least I have company. :)

You should be aware that MBPs have an ant detector inside. If an ant enters your computer and triggers the detector, your warranty will be voided.

This post isn't a joke, I am facing this problem once a week. Nearly 1k ants are roaming on and around my laptop.
Even I assure the place where I use to keep my laptop is very clean without any kind of food or eatables.

Facing this problem in Macbook Pro 15' and 16'

Try updating OS X to the latest version.

Where do you live?

I too hate ants but today it was the mosquitoes flying near my computer screen. Then they bit me and then they bit me again. I'm itching all over. It's awful. I should've bought a Dell.

this thread isn't for joking really, I'm worried. was sitting and saw an ant crawling near my macbook but not anywhere on it or closer. can those machines attract ants without any reason : sugar on it, food, or unclean macbook.
I assure you that my machine is totally clean. never ate near it. probably this is the first time I saw an ant near it, maybe came from somewhere behind.

I used to notice ants crawling on the screen of my past HP Pavilion. but this one wasn't clean.

Perhaps it was your old android phone running lollipop or marshmallow OS?
