Handbrake Question

I have a 2009 quad 2.93 running the latest version of handbrake (it had me download VLC for decryption).

I ripped slumdog millionaires (2 hour movie) using the iPod pre-set and saw the following:

In activity monitor, I was getting 85% idle. When I inspected handbrake in the activity monitor, it showed I was getting 110% CPU. I was also getting around an average of 70 - 80 fps in handbrake.

This looks very slow to me and I was wondering what I could be doing wrong. How can I specify that I use all four cores ?

Interesting - I ripped an older DvD using the universal pre-set and got around 775% CPU with 1% idle. I only got a 62 fps average though (is it because of the universal pre-set ?).

encoded ratatouille on my 2.8 octo w/ 10GB RAM:

movie: 1:51:02H

appleTV: 28:39 minutes, 93fps

Just got my Mac Pro today and wanted to join in with the fun here. Same movie as quoted, ripped to the HD first using "RipIt" (which took longer but worked better than Mac The Ripper).

AppleTV preset: 20:35 minutes, avg 127 fps

At the beginning I was getting 800% on the CPUs but didn't watch them the entire time.
