I'd have to agree.

At least a drunk driver has their eyes on the road (even if their reaction time is impaired) vs an idiot who has their eyes on their cell phone instead of the road.

Can you imagine a drunker, texting, driving and drinking a beer at the same time LOL

i had no problems texting and driving with my nokia on one hand. with iphone it's impossible to text with only one hand. so, only calls

It's illegal now in Canada.

Back when I had my motorola krzr I could text and drive with one hand and wouldn't have to look at the phone because I knew where all the keys were and how many clicks each letter required.

With the iphone's touchscreen, you cant really feel around for the keys so I haven't been able to.

Everyone who texts and drives is a complete idiot. you risk killing others because you couldnt wait to text your buddy back.

Not only that, nothing pisses me off more when I see someone in the left lane going 50 in a 65 and I pass them and see that theyre texting.

i am physically able to text and drive if thats what you mean, but it is illegal here in NY. ill usually send out a text or two when im at a red light

I can do it pretty well, but I don't for the most part. Usually the people I see all over the road or just not paying attention in general have a cell phone shoved in front of their face so at least one of us have to be alert. :p

I was pulled over for texting and driving, and the officer had no idea who I was, until he read this about it in the news the next day. He contacted my record label and apologized ahaha

Huh?
1) who are you?
2) doesn't matter. Don't text and drive, genius.

Doesn't matter if you can or not..sending or replying to a text message while driving isn't worth risking your life over.

It's illegal to text or talk on your phone (handheld) in NY. It will add two points to your license if you are caught. Statistics say it is safer to drive drunk!!

This x100

Anyone texting while driving is a total moron and has no business being on a public road, same goes for the a**holes making calls without handsfree.
This should be an automatic 6 month ban.

Both of these stupid selfish acts are totally illegal in the UK and rightly so.

Umm I might like to point out to both you you handsfree vs holding phone to make a phone call does not make you a safer driver. It is not the part of holding the phone to your head that causes everything to in the crappier. It is the phone call and the distraction from the phone call itself. Handfree does not make you a safer driver. Hell I would almost argue the people who believe the stuff you posted are a more dangerous driver when talking on handfree than not because they have a false sense of security.

As for me texting and driving. The only time I will txt while driving is when I am at a stop light or a stop sign and not moving. Hell I have the LED set on my phone to flash certain colors depending on who it is that text me so from that I can get get a good idea of relevant information from it.

I used to be a master at it when I had my Razr and Razr2. The physical keys allowed me to do it without even having to look at the phone at all.

When I got my Android phone, that ability severely decreased, since you really have to pay attention to the screen, so I stopped. Same with my iPhone. Now I will only text while driving if it's somewhat urgent, and I always wait until I'm stopped at a red light. Sometimes I will have to stop when the light turns green, then I just resume typing at the next light.

Also, here in Michigan, they just recently made it illegal to text while your car is in motion (which is great). I think you get a $100 fine for your first offense, and it increases each time thereafter, though I don't recall the exact details.

One time I saw this lady driving an SUV... pulled up next to her at a light and just happened to look over... somehow she was reading a book, texting on her phone, and smoking a cigarette. I don't even know how that's possible, but I wanted to punch her in the face.

texting and driving should be banned, just like drinking and driving.
It's caused way too many deaths recently.

I actually can text without looking at my iphone, but i usually text while at a stop sign or light

The number of (proud) potential Darwin Award winners in this thread is astounding.

yes I can, but its hard, so I do not unless sitting at a red light and have enough time to send something short.
It should be illegal along with checking email.
