Based on my reading here, the answer is yes. I just don't know how you "reserve" a device only off contract phone on apple.com for store pickup?

You can't reserve it - you have to go stand in the standby queue, which can still be quite long. My friend and I tried to go yesterday, and while the store was completely empty inside, there was a queue of about 30 outside the store, and a second queue of about 200 outside the mall. Apple employees walked 10-15 people at a time from outside the mall to outside the store.

There was also a separate queue for folks doing personal pick up. We just strolled right int the store and checked out the devices, there were maybe 10 customers in the store, all being helped by employees to purchase devices.

Ultimately we both decided buying online and having it shipped was less of a hassle since we wanted to use AT&T Next.

Will the Apple store sell you a iPhone 6 for AT&T without any contract?

I bought an att full price no contract yesterday in seattle. Ask for device only. You can't do it online. I went to the retail store, told them what I wanted...they put it in their system with my name and gave me a reservation card...they will also send you a confirmation text. The wait to actually buy the phone at that time...mid afternoon...was 3-5 hours. I came back at 8 pm and still waited about 1 1/2 hours. You have to pick it up the same day you reserve it.

So there are still crazy lines to buy these phones at some stores?

I'm due for an upgrade next Wednesday so I'm planning on searching for a store that has what I want. If I find one, I'll reserve it and stop in on Saturday to pick it up. Willing to drive 60-90 minutes each way to do that. I'll add a few stops in to make it an interesting day out. I'm hoping that I don't have to wait in line for hours to pick it up.

I searched earlier for a 128GB Gray AT&T model earlier and every store it pulled up in the search (as far away from Georgia as Kentucky) had available stock. I've been told the local carrier stores and Best Buy have stock too. Doesn't sound like its too hard to find one if you're looking for an iPhone 6.

Most Apple stores in Minnesota are reloading nightly.

Just order online and have it delivered to your door.

Yup... walked into Verizon Saturday (Day after release) and picked up a 64gig iPhone 6 for my mom.

I called Apple about availability and they said that the Verizon store near me had no iPhones and that I could order one from Apple.

With that said, I decided to still pop by the store anyway. They had a few iPhones and said that it is impossible for Apple to see their stock.

-_- liars.

Did you find out from the employees whether you would've been able to buy on the AT&T Next plan in-store?

You can buy it on contract, off contract/unlocked, or through Next/Edge in-store if you wait in the standby line.

I guess my friend and I were boneheads and didn't check if we could just buy the T-Mobile verson for personal pickup, since they are unlocked & the same model number as AT&T (A1549). Looking now, iPhone 6 isn't in stock anywhere anymore. Bummer! We wouldn't get the payment plan of Next, but I was going to pay the whole thing off anyway.

Just checked stock in about a 150 mile radius. 64GB Space gray iPhone 6. Nothing in any of the apple stores. I might end up having to order or, if I remember correctly, I was able to score one just after the store updated their stock when I bought my iPhone 5. Forget what time that was though (after midnight or after they open in the morning.

Does anyone know the stock situation in San Fransisco with the 6?

Looking to score a 6 Space grey 64 GB Unlocked, as the 6 hasn't launched in my home country yet. I'm only in SF from Saturday till Wednesday though...

Will I be able to just walk into a store in the morning..?

Are they? Before I ordered my 6 online, I tried looking for the configuration I wanted (128 GB Space Grey AT&T). Wasn't able to find it. Did you happen to know by chance what models they had?

only a few people at Green Hills Mall in Nashville this morning. They were out of 6 Plus. The old people in front of me asked for one. But they seemed to have plenty of 6. I was in and out with my 128gb 6 within about 10 minutes.

I only know one Apple store (the 5th Avenue) but I was able to get the iP6 through personal pick up (you order over the phone and pick up at the an hour or so later. And the wait on the personal pick up is minutes rather than hours.) Or you can do the pick up through the web store too.

It depends on where you live, OP but this is another option.

On seven separate occasions I have been able to walk into a totally different Best Buy and purchase a Verizon iPhone 6 for myself and family living in Asia with no line and no waiting,

I use the phone on AT&T and I get LTE, and it also works with my Japanese and Korean sim cards

Yes go through Apple.Com or Apple Store App. I got a 6+ 128GB ATT Space Grey.
