Calm down guys ... that's pretty sure just maintenance.

Reasons:
* The time of day is just wrong for new products
* It's too close to WWDC
* No slips in shipping times, no last-minute rumours ...

Don't get your hopes up - you will just be disappointed ...

I agree with you on the time of day. However, we have seen these kind of updates of products in preparation for a product release during WWDC.

When I bought my Macbook Pro in 2010, the store went down at about the same time and was down until early in the morning.

ML isn't going to be released in a week and a half. Do you even know what wwdc is?

Apple's a consistent company. Of course I know what WWDC is. Not sure if I appreciate your condescending attitude.

Obviously WWDC is going to focus heavily on Mountain Lion, as they announced Lion at last year's WWDC. Whether they announce they're releasing the Golden Master (or a stage less - or even higher?), it's still going to take another month or so before it's at a retail version.

I just think they would be making a lot more work for themselves if they released a new product now, before WWDC. If the new iMacs were ready now, you might as well announce them at the WWDC & get a lot more publicity from the announcement - weather you like it or not, the iMac is still a flagship product, and I doubt Apple will quietly update it without some sort of announcement.

You've lost your logical thinking with your own preconceived ideas.

Oh, and I know in the previous post I said ML will be released at WWDC - Sorry, in hindsight I should have said 'more information at least will be provided'.

Is it me or is this down time taking longer than normal for just "maintenance"...?

Lets be honest, it's Apple. They don't need a big event to gain a ton of media attention. Apple can release a new iMac without as much as a small note on the website and it's still going to be huge news on every tech blog around. That's the advantage of being Apple, you need to create zero hype yourself.

I hope your not right :D

Please be a refreshed iMac

Being in Asia I'm hitting NZ and Oz stores like a madman in the hope they will be first back-up - my credit card is ready with real cash in it to play with.

As for Mountain Lion, Apple launched its revamped iMac in May last year even though Lion was nearly ready to go - they'll either include a update coupon in any new refresh or hope to actually sell it to us - too bad I use Gold Masters from a developer I know.

I'm dripping sweat waiting, so hope its not a big let down!!!!!!!!

I really need to get ready for work, but just keep checking the store instead. I don't know why I'm not expecting it to be the new macs.

Down in NZ.

I'm 99% sure it would be maintenance. Reason being is that if it were the iMac, I'm sure they would wait until they release Mountain Lion so that it ships with it.

Then why have retina icons built into 10.7 updates?

interesting, who knows, maybe they managed to make it a super surprise this time.
Could be ML is all ready integrated, there has been rumors of ML early release. If Mountain Lion will be available from WWDC then it would pretty much match when you might release your new mac if it was released today and delivered about a week after.

I dont expect anything but I have high hopes.

No..IF They release new Imacs today,Mountain Lion won't be loaded on them,
i see it coming for the new Mac as a free upgrade,or for 29€/$.

OK - has anyone got an Apple Store near them? It would be good to know if the stores are closed and concealed.

If they are open as usual then I can't see anything launching today.

Because a lot of code gets carried across to mountain lion ;)

and possibly the transition phase to get the new hardware out with hardware related software features... like retina... until mountain lion crawls down from the mountain side?

absolutely, wouldn't be the first time mac hardware was released months if not weeks before an OS release.
