Sounds good, but as you said it will probably be less than what someone can get privately. And fortunately, I have had pretty good experiences when selling my previous phones on kijiji.

Anyhow, after getting hit with the reality that a new 64gb 6S will be 1100$+, am most probably going to skip upgrading for the first time. Apple has priced me out.

Got a price via Orchard for my 64GB 6 at $548. Not bad considering I got a price $50 more on Kijiji. This is much more easier. Decided to get a box and see how much they'll give.

Also, I'm starting to doubt my own prices. I'm in disbelief myself. Don't blame Apple, blame Harper. The dollar has gone down drastically. Apple is just trying to re-coup it's loss. I don't see how my (mostly female) peers (15 y/o here) are going to afford it. Probably whine to their parents.

This should be interesting...

If those are the new prices then yikes! I know are dollar is going down but it's ridiculous how much the prices for Apple products have gone up compared to other tech companies. Honestly, I won't be upgrading for a while and if our dollar stays this way for a few years then I will just end up waiting until Best Buy has one of there promotions. I got my iPhone 5s in February when it was $228.99 on a two year term for $0 at Best Buy because of a promotion.

I bet the carriers will subsidize the price down. There is no way anyone is going to pay $600 up front on a two year term. Or they'll do some deal. Or prices will remain the same.

Time will tell. Less than a week to go. My high school starts on the 9th so I'll be busy when they announce it.

Don't blame anyone if you don't know what you're talking about.

Anyways, I checked Fido's site and the 64GB iPhone 6 is going for $479 on a 2-year plan. Unless they've already had a price drop due to the upcoming 6s release (haven't really paid attention), it's likely that the new prices would be consistent for the latest phone.

I have a weak grasp on Canadian politics.

I hope so. I bought my iPhone 6 64GB Unlocked from Apple on launch day for $970 taxes in.

Hmmm I've heard them and heard there is way to have one without having a SK/MB number... I need to look into this

I have a SK area code, that is the safest option, just forward the number to a Fongo line.

For the first time ever, I am thinking of going the contract-subsidized route. I save 10$ a month on MTS by bringing my own device, not worth it anymore if the prices you speculated come true. Still iPhone 6 64GB is 469$ on a two year contract, much more affordable over paying 1100$ .

You're in Manitoba, damn those plans are amazing. I would kill to get those.

How is an iPhone as expensive as a macbook ? Really not thinking of upgrading on launch day. Will pre order and return it, just to see if I'll buy a used one in a couple of months.

1230$ for a 64gb 6s. God damn that's expensive

Yikes. I was pretty set on getting a 6S but if those are in the ballpark of the prices we'll have to pay....I cannot justify that at all.

Incidentally, has anyone here ever tried reselling through the Orchard app? For those not familiar, Orchard is an app/service that you install on your phone. It'll basically do a diagnostic of your device to make sure that the hardware is functional. It then tells you the value of the device and if you agree to sell, you'll be sent a box to pack your phone in, and you just send it in to them and receive the money. No auctioning, no haggling, no sketchy meetings.

I imagine that since they do all the work for you, you probably don't get as much money as if you did it all independently, but the main reason why I haven't sold my phones in the past is because it just seems like a hassle.

I'm interested to hear if anyone has used the service. They are offering $620 for my unlocked 6+, 64gb model. Not bad in my opinion.

If you're happy with that price, I say go for it. I have no personal experience with Ochard, but I know that it's not a scam. I first heard about them last year when the 6/6+ were coming out and the local news did a story on ways to sell your old phone. They featured Orchard with lots of testimonials from people who had used their service for both buying and selling.

For the seller, it's as easy as putting your phone in the mail. For a buyer, they guarantee phones in good condition, and I think they even have a 30 day return period. As in, return to them, not the seller. Once you get your money it's not your problem anymore.

I called up Rogers and they probably will offer discounts on the phone's upfront price. They were even offering the 128GB cheaper than the 64. Weird. Anyway, I really hope Apple doesn't raise prices too much. I hope my possible pricing is totally incorrect and it's gonna be cheaper. PLZ APPLE

Good to know. I've read lots of positive reviews from both sellers and buyers. It sounds like a better option than kijiji, at least for me. I hate dealing with people that end up flaking out on a deal.

I have some First Rewards points so I'll be using that towards my upgrade (if the price is too high I'll pre-order via Rogers). If the price isn't too different, I'll buy via Apple. Also, why doesn't Apple's Canadian site allow for carrier upgrades and purchases like the US site?

I find it odd that apple.ca doesn't allow for carrier upgrades. Probably has to do with the carriers. You can reserve your device through Rogers reservation for in store pickup on launch day. If I don't buy my 6s+ outright I might go the Rogers route.

Me being a minor means account holder has to be present in order to sign contract, my mother can come with me and she's level one like me but even she can't do the signing, but apparently they don't accept signing contracts online. What a crock of ****

I hope apple doesn't jack up the price any higher.

I am always buying unlocked because I refuse to sign into those overpriced new plans. Loving my $50/month 6Gb plan.

Looks like pre-ordering is going to be cheaper.

COST FROM CARRIER:

$65 * 24 months = $1560

$1560 + $500 subsidy = $2060

Total cost over two years = $2,060

COST FROM APPLE UNLOCKED

$60 * 24 months = $1440

$1440 + $900 = 2340

So around $300 savings buying from my carrier.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with preorders, but anyone here hoping for Apple pay to be announced Wednesday? It's the one feature that I am looking forward to.
