As I'm writing this, I'm on the phone with an Apple's rep and I told him again how disappointing the shipping treatment is. I already had a 2-3 day delivery from my first call and now got 75$ off.

It makes it easier a bit to wait.

*** Just checked my specs and my total before taxes... is that normal?

Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeo
2GB (2x1GB)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb

WIRELESS KEYBD/ OS X-CAN.

Total: $2,904.00 (with the 75$ off)

But on the website it's $3,149.00 ... looks like I'm saving $245

Here's the link and you had the right page: http://www.canadaram.com/macram.html

I had ordered the 4 X 2GB kit: Certified 61677-1x4 $495
and the 2 X 1GB kit: Certified 61676-1x2 $170
I ordered when the 800Mhz FB-DIMM's first came out before the price increases.

I have the Dell 2407WFP, bought in April '07. I really like it. Check all the reviews with a Google search. The older versions had problems which have supposedly long been fixed. What do you mean by "crisp for films"? It's very sharp and bright for video editing if that's what you mean.

That's a beautiful monitor. I think I'm going to grab one...my first purchase from DELL. Damn, how the mighty have fallen. But, no I just mean is it like sharp. I can't stand some of my friends monitors. It's all blurry and pixelated. It looks so bad. I need to ensure the best visual graphics for film-watching, film-editing, and film-scoring.

The monitor is just as sharp in my opinion as the much higher priced Apple Cinema Displays. I have complete faith that you won't be disappointed.

I can't believe this!!!! I ordered Jan 20 and STILL haven't AT VERY LEAST received the "PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT" notice yet. The Apple store says it takes 7 days to ship the system if you order now.... Which beats my ship date:mad: HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO GET MY DREAM MACHINE!!!

Sorry guys, but my MP shipment originated in Rancho Cordova, California and is currently on its way to.......CANADA!
So much for my theory that is was assembled in Shanghai, China.

Ok so my order which was supposed to ship on Feb 25th and be here by the 6th or march is now on target for a Thursday February14th delivery. Can't complain about that.

Sorry to jump off topic a bit, but at least I know fellow Canadians will see my question...

Has anyone ordered anything from OWC (macsales.com)? Something I ordered almost a month ago is taking frustratingly long to get to my house :( I'm from Vancouver, by the way. It was just a MBP RAM stick and an external hard drive.

I ask because (and to be on topic a bit) I ordered my Mac Pro w/8800GT a couple days ago and I was thinking about getting RAM, internal hard drives, and another optical drive from OWC as their prices seem to be the best. CanadaRam.com seems like my next option if I'd ever have to wait a month for my upgrades again...

I ordered the 8gb kit from OWC and it came to my door in about a week. The shipping was only one step up-an extra dollar. Had to pay about 60$ duty.

Ah, I went with the cheapest shipping method, I suppose that makes the difference.

$60 duty? Ouch. Does that make you reconsider shopping there again? If I do go with OWC, I think I'll have it shipped to Point Roberts (just below the border) and pick it up there, and hope customs fees isn't that much.

Why not get your ram from Memory Express? It's a Canadian company and therefore cheaper and faster to receive.

I just tried their website. The memory configuring software link wouldn't work, couldn't find any sniff of FB-DIMM 800 MHz RAM, searched Apple RAM and got no results. I can't say I support your recommendation. I like www.CanadaRam.com even though their prices for our new MP RAM went up again yesterday.

I think with the duty it was still cheaper than the alternatives, although the only other company I looked at was CanadaRam.com

As of last night my mac pro is still shipping on the 25th and scheduled to arrive on the 6th of march (ordered on the 17th of Jan). I think I'm developing a 'refresh' condition b/c of this order.

My MP is on the delivery truck. It's been exactly 24 hrs from the pickup in Rancho Cordova to on the truck in Canada. When I get home from work it should be sitting in the front hall, as long as my wife signs for it. Now comes the fun. I've got to move a g4 iMac to make room for a G4 Powermac to make room for the new MP. It's the falling domino effect. I hope to have the MP running tonight with extra RAM and 4 new HD's installed. The original HD will be relegated to an external USB 2/eSATA enclosure.

it seems like everyone here ordered early jan. anyone just order? I ordered yesterday. Im curious what everyones estimated ship date is. I ordered my through Long and Mcquade (0% financing is this weekend!!!) So I dont know the extimated ship date yet. Ill ask him tomorrow. I have a feeling all estimated ship dates no matter when you ordered are for somewhere in the last week of feb to 1st week of march.

I ordered 8 gigs of ram from them on Jan.13 It took a couple of weeks for me to get it but keep in mind at that time the ram was so new there was no stock.

The OWC order I ranted about last night arrived this morning :p Regardless, 3 weeks is a long wait especially if the upgrades slow you down in video projects and stuff. From now on, either Canadian vendors or shipped to a USA box for me.
