I don't get it. Is it supposed to be in here?

OK, so I guess I'm supposed to get it from the iPod itself.
But given the cloistered and proprietary nature of the hardware, wouldn't accessing the .ipsw require a Jailbreak?
In summary:
Other than this, I have only discovered four solutions that seem to work for others:
1. sync, sync, sync, sync, sync, sync, sync, ad infinitum;
2. resetting the network connection;
3. switching the date to 2030 and back;
and
4. restoring.
None of which work.
If this is all I can do, I'm just taking it to an Apple Store and having it looked at, because I don't see why this should require any warranty-voiding yak shaving.
I am having a similar problem.
I can access WiFi with no problem. I can access all Apps, Safari, etc. I can access iTunes and view Featured, Most Viewed and do searches. What I cannot do is access Favorites. I have a YouTube account. I have repeatedly tried to change the password and then try again on my iPod, nothing has worked so far.
When I got this new generation iPod Touch 2 weeks ago it worked. Then it stopped and then it worked. Now again it is not working and I cannot access Favorites. The Username and Password are 100% correct.
I have tried everything on the web to fix it. I have changed the date. I have reset it multiple times which in doing so lost one of my Apps that is not recoverable (Nike iPod). I have synced it over and over.
When it corrected itself before, and from reading stuff on the web, I was led to believe this was an issue with YouTube; perhaps it still is ... I don't know. All I know is I want this to work as intended.
Anybody else have "this" problem.
I definitely think it's something to do with my wireless router. My ipod touch works just fine at our local library. I saw in another forum it has to do with the band b/g vs the N that we use here. Now I just have to figure out if you can change the router to cover these bands.
I changed the DNS on my ipod, it's under settings, wi-fi to 4.2.2.2., 4.2.2.3. Hopes this works for others!
