Walked into the Apple Store and every Orange/Blue 17 Pro Max on display was already scratched up with MagSafe rings. I got the Silver, and honestly, the Pro feels ridiculously cheap in hand. This is the first iPhone Pro that doesn’t feel like a Pro at all. On top of that, Apple’s marketing is completely misleading they hype it as some kind of ‘invincible’ phone, but the reality couldn’t be further from that. Totally disappointed this year

Apple hasn't marketed the phone as invincible. iPhone Pro models will suffer damage just like any other iPhone model, or other manufacturers.

The rings from the heat of MagSafe is not new. I remember seeing lots of pics from members here who experienced it first hand. I am not sure why people here think that a very hot magnetic charging device won't suffer discoloration. After seeing story after story about it, I made a point to stick to wired charging.

In my opinion, Apple should warn people that MagSafe charging can cause permanent marks on the phone.

Had a very similar feeling/experience when I held the 17 Pro iPhones at the Apple Store today.
This coming week I plan on going to my local Apple Store in the mall when the kids are in school, and take a look at the display units, as well as the orange and blue pros in person. I want to see if the orange looks as good in person.

As to premium feel, I am not hung up on titanium vs aluminum. Although I do care if something I want to buy is overly fragile due to ongoing use or stress from use etc. On its face, I don't have a problem with the new phones, so long as they work as advertised, even if some have an aluminum frame. We hear the same arguments with the watches. I think a lot of people on here convince themselves that something is cheap or looks cheap when the product is a well-made product.

Well it’s not heating like last years …

This sounds like a “premium device is meant to look pristine” issue where in reality everlasting presence is premium. A phone scuffed to the end of the world that still works is premium, a device that works years after the rest of the world has moved on is premium. iPhone X in 2025 is premium, and planned obsolescence is the opposite of premium

Apple hasn't marketed the phone as invisible. iPhone Pro models will suffer damage just like any other iPhone model, or other manufacturers.

I have exclusively charged every pro since MagSafe came out via MagSafe nightly, caseless. I’ve never had any semblance of any permanent markings from doing so. I presume that will continue with my air.

Glad there’s someone out there that doesn’t think I’m crazy haha. Every iPhone I have had since MagSafe was announced, would develop rings on them where the charger sat. It would happen just over night. You’d be able to wipe it off, at first at least. One trick I found works for whatever reason…I use an anker MagSafe having stand that I have confirmed in the past still leaves the marks…I covered the surface of the charger with a layer of duct tape, and now it doesn’t leave marks anymore.
