I believe it’s more like 70%, but the hilarious part is cases are a giant insulator so the furthest the heat dissipates is throughout the phone, which the vapor chamber facilitates but the aluminum outer casing not as much. An aluminum mid plane with a titanium outer band with the vapor chamber may very well have performed nearly identically to the aluminum unibody when both encased in rubber and plastic.
Oh it is most definitely 99%. Don't let what people claim they do on internet message boards affect your judgement. I've never seen a single human being in the wild carrying an iPhone without a case of some sort. Not since maybe the 5c days.

Not the case at all. Here in the UK I see people using caseless iPhone’s daily.

Apple pushed into "premium" materials like stainless steel (and eventually titanium) as a way of justifying the higher price tag they were pushing into as well. Turns out those materials were even less practical in the long run than what they were using before.

So people are conditioned to think that aluminum is somehow worse. And the ones without any intellectual maturity actually believe it.

Honestly I believe they should all still be made of hardened plastic, so they can be used without a case. Build the case into the phone.
Good thing you don't work at Apple...🤦‍♂️

My preliminary assessment since I received my iPhone 17 PM today:
• it feels cheap
• the stated zoom appears to be a gimmick
• no longer reloading tabs - the only reason I updated
• battery life cannot be evaluated yet.

What is confusing you? It is pretty darn obvious. The term "pro" is just used to designate a higher level of overall phone competence in a particular model. The iPhone Pros have very substantially better camera systems. If you cannot perceive the better camera systems that does not make the phone less "pro."
Who said I was confused?

I just want to hear what people think it means.

A “higher level” in any product line for any company doesn’t inherently define something that is “Pro” or “Professional”.

Hell, Apple contradicts themselves with their own marketing since they have the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Ultra chips.

So by calling the iPhone an “iPhone Pro”, they are actually designating that the iPhone Lros are a middle class and not the best.

Alpple marketing. Got you wrapped around words.

No one I know uses cases most of the time. Your anecdotal experience is not representative.

I held the 15 Pro Max and 17 Pro Max back and forth when my 17 Pro max was delivered. I cannot tell the difference other than the 15 Pro max felt marginally lighter and smaller. The 17 Pro Max has a really nice feel in hand, feels very solid, and as far as looks, I have deep blue and wife has white, and I have had several comments on how much people like the look (at least on my Deep Blue).

Yikes, are you gonna return it?!

Nonsense, I haven't used a case since the iPhone 12 Pro and have now landed on the 16 Pro Max.

Anyone who’s handled the new iPhone Pro can tell how cheap it looks and feels. In comparison, the iPhone Air feels noticeably more premium.

I agree...it's very rare to see anyone's phone without a case.

No, but I would if the 16 PM had more RAM.

More RAM was the only reason for updating. I need many tabs simultaneously open and hated when they kept reloading which led to losing precious work time.

Did you get one, too? If so, how do you like it? 😊
No, I went from 15 Pro to the Air. Loving it so far. It also has 12GB of ram.

What makes it feel more premium?
You tell me...Go to the store and go hold both phones. Then come back here and tell me which phone looks/feels better.

There's only one correct choice here. Anyone who says the Pro looks better is delusional.

1) The Air feels and looks the most "premium", but I didn't feel the Pro/Pro max felt cheap. They did feel very nice to hold - especially the Pro, which feels solid given the density of the phone

2) The techwoven cases have a premium look and feel, IMO - and they are not available for either the 17 or the Air. iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max in the techwoven cases will look like premium devices.

I was in the store. I did hold both phones. One didn’t feel better or worse to me. But all my phones go in a case so whether the side of the phone is aluminum or titanium doesn’t matter because I can’t feel it. 🤷‍♀️

That's not correct. The aluminum unibody construction is best for thermal performance, as it has always been in every Apple product where the concept is used. The vapor chamber adds another layer on top of that for maximizing sustained performance.
no it doesn't and the body of the iPhone 16 pros were aluminum and they heated. the rails are the only thing that were titanium. If aluminum was so great it wouldn't need a vapor chamber

Too bad, then they're missing something!

15 and 16 pros are titanium and glass. 11 through 14 pro’s were stainless steel. Not aluminum.
