You can't compare the red leather to the other leathers because during the production of them whatever they do to the red leather they take the bit of leather feel the other colour leathers had a **** it in the bin. The red leather feels like a really bad fake or as they like to call it now vegan leather or as my wife described it as cardboard. The other leather that feels the same as the red is the soft pink one and enforce you ask yes I have had/have all the different colours but not the new ones.

Thanks, that's helpful!

silicone. i had leather until my wife got silicone and the silicone was just way nicer IMO. Also I never had any issues with peeling or dust collection. Silicone was a snugger fit too, and the sides of the inside were lined with microfiber, unlike the leather, which wasnt.
Is this true of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus leather cases? I was under the impression that the leather and silicone cases were exactly the same, material-wise, on the inside of them.

If that is true, should I be concerned about possibly marring the finish of the sides of a 6S or 6S Plus from continually taking a leather case off and putting it back on? I would take off the case when running and in some other circumstances, too, and I don't want to risk messing up the finish of the phone from doing this.

Post pics! I was interested in seeing that in real life

Done! Tried to get it in multiple lighting sources and against a pure white bg for comparison

The back of the leather is lined with microfiber but the sides on the inside aren't

only the flat part is lined with microfiber on my leather case. the sides are leather. how often would you take the case off? I've only taken it off once and saw no issues. don't think it will be that big of an issue.

I've had every case imaginable for my iPhone 6... the one that I keep going back to is the Black Leather case... The silicon cases collect too much dust\lint, and the non-black leather cases from Apple all discolor, get dirty, and the general feel of the leather is very processed maybe because of the coloring technique they use? Or do they find red\blue cows?

WRONG.

In fact he's actually right. While both the leather and silicone cases have microfiber lining the inside back, the silicone cases have this lining on the inside "walls" that hug the sides of the phone as well. The leather cases have leather there since it has to fold over.

I read in another thread that the silicone case for the 6s is different (and better) than previous versions (eg. collects less lint and does not peel)

Can anyone with both these cases confirm?

Thanks! For clarification's sake, the reason I would remove the phone from the case is because I use the Quad Lock "system" and plan to use this some of the time:

However, I don't want the annoyance of this "appendage" stuck to the back of my phone case on a regular basis. So, I am going to stick it to the back of a silicone case and put my iPhone in that case when running, biking, driving (GPS usage), etc. However, most of the time, I plan to have my iPhone in a black leather case.

This approach does mean swapping the phone between cases a bit, so this is why I want to make sure I'm not abusing the finish on the phone. But inasmuch as leather is not rough, I can't imagine the leather Apple case would in any way harm the phone, even if it doesn't have the microfiber lining on the sides of the case.

read the post next time before acting like a complete and utter jackass. reading comprehension is clearly above you. i dont even know how you can misread "the sides of the inside were" as "the inside is"

let me bold, underline, and italicize it for you:

If ever there was a time for the saying "better for one to keep quiet and let others think one is dumb than open ones mouth and remove all doubt"

Sorely tempted with the saddle brown leather for my gold 6. Had the dark brown leather case since launch day last year and with the inevitable scoring, scuffing etc it's aged wonderfully. Nothing wrong with the current case but that saddle brown looks lovely. Might have to treat my 6 to a new case over the weekend!

After seeing how it ages so beautiful I don't see any other option honestly.

I like the idea of a leather case, but in practice I'm not as much of a fan. I don't want to be at the gym with sweaty hands handling my leather case. Silicone also cleans much more easily and is more durable. If my hands are dirty, I'd much rather be handling my phone with silicone.

Got my 6s+ today and so I went to the Apple Store and picked up the saddle leather case. It looks so good on the phone; really excited to see how it's going to wear over the next few months. It gives it a lot more character than the black leather case I had on my last phone.

I have both of the new 6s cases, and both in midnight blue (which I think looks amazing with the silver/white phone). I generally prefer the feel of the leather case, but the silicone fits the 6S better. The leather one is extremely tight, while the silicone seems to fit just right. The silicone may have a touch softer finish than last year's silicone, but it does still collect lint. Perhaps not as badly as the earlier ones, but it's hard to tell, as my silicone is very new and it hasn't absorbed any of the oils from my hands yet. Both look excellent and feel nice; the buttons are easier to press on the silicone. I've had the leather for about 8 days, and was using it on my 6 and then on my 6S yesterday. Using the silicone today and probably tomorrow. If I really like the silicone, I may return my leather one, and if lint starts collecting at a greater rate, I may return the silicone, but chances are I'll end up keeping both and swap them out when I want a different feel.

I decided to keep the silicone one and returned the leather one today. The silicone one is great so far, perfect balance of smooth and grip, and so far not collecting lint or anything, but time will tell. I did love the look of the red leather one, but not the pics of what it looks like after some time. The brown ones look great with age, the red not so much IMHO. So for now I'll be using the red silicone. I may add a LifeProof to my collection when they come out, but mostly for camping, etc. Thanks, everyone, for you help!
