Apple charged my credit card on 9/17


Anyone have any ideas as to why?
 
Status says " in progress" with ups tracking #s. also just received an email from AT&T premiere saying my phone reserved and should be here by 21.

Second phone just says shipped with no tracking numbers.

My status page shows the exact same as yours, except mine shows an order date of 9/14/2012. I ordered on Friday 9/14 at about 7:30 pm PST. I had a "1" under "Qty Back-Ordered" until yesterday evening, fwiw. Given that I was quoted a delivery date of 14-21 days, I'm not expecting my phone on Friday, but if what GF has said is true, then perhaps it will be here on Friday after all.

fyi, mine just updated to "Shipped". Must be lucky, given that I ordered so late. There may be hope for the rest of you! :D
 
I was able to garner and deduce some information from a CSR today.

AT&T and apple WEBSITES were down until approximately 12.45 am PST. (att was still down when apple came up) however AT&T premier and IOS stores were up.

I ordered through the AT&T premier website however I am not a premier customer. My order then took an extra 12 hours to process my order because of that fact. My order went through at 1.31 am and contract was not accepted until 1 pm. So anyone that was a premier customer and ordered through the premier website will obviously process more quickly than someone in my situation. The people that are standard AT&T customers and waited for the standard website to open will also process more quickly even though I ordered before them. Several of these orders that were placed by non premier customers thru the premier website apparently were outright cancelled and not processed.

I may be off base here but I tend to think this is why I am going to be delayed for an indeterminate amount of time. Also it tends to agree with the people I've seen post their backorder status change either did it online or called or went to a store in the morning when standard website opened , Or are premiere customers and did the order as the website opened.

All the time the pre orders put through by regular AT&T subscribers were in a que that didn't get processed until things got sorted out they were not premier customers.
 
I ordered a white and a black 16gb from att premier. Well, it was their phone upgrader app which was very easy at about 715 am central. Both phones said they have shipped. I'm sure tracking numbers will show up soon. Once they said they shipped I have kind of given up on checking it so often. I was worried, I work for USPS and figured they send it fed ex not UPS and I think I am right. Normally they only ship USPS since I get the discount but b/c its overnight its fed ex.
 
"Processing" just disappeared from the BofA checking account (checked through web), and the amount ($240) has been restored. Do you know what does this mean? There is no sign of cancellation in the ATT order status website and I haven't received any call from ATT representatives.

I do have sufficient amount in my account. Purchased with debit card on 14th 11AM at ATT local retail store. (16G Black)

The CC hold expires after 3 days, so they have to keep putting a hold on until it ships and they can fully charge the card.

Just got my tracking number. Ordered at 8:30 pm MST on 9/14, was told 14-21 business days, and according to the tracking information I'll have it no later than tomorrow afternoon. First time I ever remember AT&T overachieving!
 
After following this post the past few days I figured mine would come from the Illinois warehouse since I live in Indiana however the tracking information I received this morning shows it is now in Indianapolis and originated from Fort Worth Texas. I really don't care where it comes from, I'm just happy it's coming on Friday.

I ordered through AT&T Premier around 07:30 EST and after looking at the information on the conformation it showed the order was placed on the 15th so I figured I was probably out of the running for Friday delivery but it looks like I'm good to go. Hopefully it will arrive before I leave for work that evening.

Everything you've said was spot on (from what we could see ourselves) and extremely informational, and it sucks that people can't just take info with a grain of salt - if they didn't believe you they should have just moved on.

OP's info was spot on! Including the fact that it would be coming from either IL, TN, or TX... mine is coming from TX, yay!

I think they banned him because he was trying to sell his "test" iPhone 5(Checked his profile for previous posts). If MacRumors was the forum that allowed such transactions to occur, they would probably be hit with some some pretty big legal action.

I would have to agree though, his info seemed quite spot on.

OH, okay... oops, that makes sense: breaking the rules. I'm just glad it wasn't because people were skeptical of his info.

Agreed. He said his info applied only to the Black 16gb iPhone 5, but his info was 100% correct for my 64gb phone as well. Really the only person that knew what he was talking about among all of the various other forums out there. Well done schlong man!
 
1. Ordered 9/14, @10:30 AM EST 16GB white -- still back ordered 1
2. Ordered 9/14, @11:03 AM EST 16GB black -- backordered to 0 @2:00AM 9/20

Received the "14-21" day email for both phones on 9/19 @1:00PM & 2:45PM as did others -- some now have tracking! I have been "allocated" phone 2, maybe not shipping today, but soon hopefully.

Found another way to confirm your phone is allocated in addition to the backorder status change from 1 to 0.
A. Log into your AT&T account to check the upgrade eligibility for your lines.
B. After login, I clicked the "I want to..." Drop down menu and
C. chose "Check upgrade options".

It should list all your lines with thumbnail pics of the phones on the left side and clickable links on the right side titled "Upgrade Eligibilty".

For my "allocated" iPhone 5, there is no link on the right side to click.
Instead, there is a random plain text entry below my number... "P1287-->"

If someone that has tracking and/or shipped status could check this out and post their findings I would be grateful. Enjoy the phones chosen ones!
 
My phone is on the FedEx truck for delivery this morning.... I have a feeling the FedEx man is gonna get a huge bear hug the moment he steps off his truck...So anxious my stomach is churning
 
I ended up getting one from the local ATT store. I lucked out big time with the last 32gb that they had. I didn't necessarily want the 32 but my preorder was still not even processed to the point of reserving a phone. It was a hassle but I got it today!
 
I had a guy at ATT offer to knock 6 weeks off my upgrade date of Nov 20 if I signed up for Uverse with no obligation.
I did and he ordered my iphone on Oct 5

Naturally I am in a state of impatience and have the standard 14-21 day anticipated wait.

Am I dreaming to think it might be shorter now that the first batch shipped?

There is no mention of backorder

Oh, and I went home and cancelled Uverse which didn't affect the shipping that I am aware of.
 
Fwiw, the guy told me its been taking more like 2 weeks as of late, but didn't want to disappoint me so he told me to expect a phone by Halloween.

I'm not sure if my corporate account gave me any special treatment, but I really had only stopped in to check the phone out in person and was surprised he was able to override so much time on the upgrade.

I should be happy not to be waiting until Nov 20, but am still anxious
 
There are so many horror stories out there from folks who ordered on 9/14 and still have not received their phone.......good reason to be anxious.

I was given the 14 - 21 business day commitment too.....no mention of back order either.
 
My girlfriend ordered through Verizon and it was shipped from Memphis by FedEx. I'm assuming there is a large stash there as well. She ordered towards the end of September and received it around the 3rd of October.
