How do you figure? I updated - everything worked. I reset everything to try to start from scratch and restore from an iCloud update - it won't activate. It's obviously not using the servers to authenticate the update.

arghhhh I cant activate ios7.
And now i cant even downgrade because the stupid itunes error, this iPhone cannot be restored. Even did all the tricks like changing Hosts file....

any help? basically have a bricked phone

edit: trying 6.1.4 instead of 6.1.3 only available on apples dev site. this seems to be working to get it restored.

After restoring to 6.1.4, when do you choose option+update in itunes?

Hold option while clicking update, then select the IPSW file.

Downgrading should work. Try putting the phone in DFU mode (hold the power and home buttons for 8 seconds, then let go of the power but keep holding the home button until a message appears in iTunes saying it's in recovery mode.

DFU to 6.1.4 and then shift + upgrade option to 7 worked fine for me. Thanks for the help guys.

iPhone 4s here, tried restore direct to 7 (not update), part of developer network and I can't activate. It times out when trying to add from Xcode as well :(

This has been a very frustrating process but I finally got it to work. It took 4 tries. The first time I did it the right way and used the Alt + Retore method. It said my UDID wasn't registered (yes it actually is). I then did the aforementioned Alt + Update method 3 times (each with a DFU restore afterwards) until it worked.

The last time it didn't even go through the setup process (asking for your language, etc) it just booted straight into the OS - icons on the screen and all. WTF?

So the moral of the story is be patient and keep trying.

FINALLY WORKS AS OF 12.06AM EST Jun 11, 2013.

When using the "update" method, I don't get all the wallpapers! So this time I just restored to iOS 7b1 and voila, it activated easy.

Got all my wallpapers too!

Stuck on error 3014, both update and restore won't work.
Server problem?

*checked the host file and no gs.apple.com entry is found*:apple:

My iPhone 5 suffered the same issue. Two options. 1. Try again now as most people should beautiful asleep. 2. Wait until tomorrow.
