I can watch horror/scary movies, but can't play games like these lol. this is good news though!
I love horror/scary movies too. I usually root for the killer since those teenagers had it coming.😉😁😁 The only horror movie I have a hard time watching is The Ring series. I've got a teenage daughter with long hair who can pull of the Sadako look.
latest

I have only played the old, old Resident Evil with the comically bad graphics. Dunno if I can handle realistic graphics...
I know I can't handle the Silent Hill since the scenarios could realistically happen.😧

Sad but true. I'm wondering if they'll announce the end of Rosetta 2 in about 3 years and kill all my current Steam games. :/
I hear you. At the moment, my plan is to get to 2 computers. One Mac mini for work and one cheap-ish PC for games. A bit clunky with a KVM switch solution, but what can you do?

As I stated multiple times, MacOS is the best way to play Resident Evil and outperforms PCs!!!

Outperforms seems like a strong statement on little data from article... But at least this article uses a M1 MAx unlike the other one (they used an M1 Pro and chose balanced settings instead of prioritize graphics).

Bro you're capping so hard. The differences between Steam and the Mac App Store is night and day

For starters, Steam has a refund policy if a game doesn't work. The Mac App Store does not.

Steam has support for key rebindings. The Mac App Store does not

Steam has achievements, friends, community hubs, sales, and it actually has games. The Mac App Store does not

I can go on. The Mac App Store is nowhere close to Steam. Steam's the juggernaut it is for a reason because it's a vastly superior service to everything else on the market, to the point Microsoft puts their games on it and not have them only on the Windows Store.

Anyone who actually wants Village is not gonna buy it on the Mac App Store. This game is a year old and available on every other platform. They're not gonna go out of their way to buy it on a Mac when chances are they already got a Playstation or a gaming PC and got it there.

Raytracing...on an ARM chip...that's a new one I haven't heard before.
Raytracing is actually a highlighted feature of Metal 3 and the game has the features. I am waiting for some videos to see how well it looks on an M1 MBP, but currently, it is the best-selling app on the Mac App Store.

I totally agree that Steam is the better platform, at least if you aren't on the latest Macs. And REVillage has been out for a bit on other platforms. Still, it is a great showcase piece, and it would be nice to play it without having to go through hoops to get it working, and unless they are BSing it should look at least as good as an Xbox Series S version which is actually pretty impressive.

It was reported in another thread that the RT option is missing in the macOS version.

The guy says he is on an M1 Mac so that isn't surprising it wouldn't be supported, other articles I've read said higher-end machines do have it which would make sense. My understanding is on the M1 MBP it should run at 1080P at a consistent 1080P/60FPS or higher with raytracing off. In comparison, the Xbox Series S version only hits 60FPS at 1440P with dips to 40FPS in some parts, but also a consistent 60FPS at 1080P so bother versions are similar in performance which still, is impressive.

game looks good to me. i'm disappointed they didn't swap the phones in the game with iphones. also why can't apple support switch pro controllers - i know it's probably because of nintendo. damn nintendo, open up a little.

Not really about the platform. It’s all about marketshare. The Nintendo Switch gets more games than a Mac and its hardware SUCKS! I found it laughable while Breath of the Wild was one of my favorite games recently, how bad it ran at times and it’s not even graphically impressive enough. And this was back in 2017!
You are talking nonsense. Breath of the wild has been voted the best game of all time, while I disagree with that , its definitely top 3. Graphics mean nothing in a game it’s the story, ine that matters, it’s why Ocarina of Time is in my eyes the best game ever made. Nothing comes close. Name me any other console u can play as a handheld and on tv like you can with the switch. It wins over any pC and console. Facts

Uhh what are you talking about? What “nonsense” am I speaking? I said it’s one of my favorite games, you sound like you are acting defensive.

I put 400 hours in breath of the Wild. I’m talking about the 3 places where the FPS drops to about 15-20fps. It’s laughable. And it’s not 1080p with AA. I can see so many edges on the grass on my TV. It doesn’t look good but it’s passable.

Can you link to an article about it, I've not seen anyone mention RT with the macOS version of RE8.

i'm loving this game on my macbook. so far i haven't ran into any bugs or frame dips. the only disappointing thing is the HDR. overall i feel like hdr is a disappointment for most media and turning it off/on to maximize experiences is an inconvenience. standard is more consistently good than hdr.

in this game, some areas are way too dark in hdr (yes i adjusted the settings but that's another issue), like the image looks sharp and all, but tons of details are lost. in some indoor scenes, you can't see the ceilings at all which is a shame because they have a ton of beautiful designs.

but the biggest issue with hdr is that the brightness setting of the display affects the settings in game. the light in my loft changes constantly because it's mostly natural light but even if it wasn't, every time i change the brightness up and down, the brightness settings in game or no longer optimal and you need to go in and change them. a cloud goes by, room gets dimmer, you lower the brightness and back into settings you have to go and so on.

in the end. hdr is staying off.

Downloaded and installed for my MacBook Pro last night and fired it up this morning with my PS5 controller. I have it set for Quality over Performance and it's running silky smooth. I was also surprised to discover the haptic triggers on the DualSense to be fully functioning, because I somehow missed that Ventura was going to support haptics in the future.

Is the force effect also supported?
